While there’s good reason to associate Exodus with Mass Effect, it’s more than the fact that they are both, at the end of the day, space sci-fi RPGs. There’s also the strong BioWare DNA; Archetype Entertainment founder and former BioWare creative James Ohlen may have left the studio last year, but it doesn’t take much digging to find a lot of BioWare experience is still there. In fact, the three developers I spoke with directly for our Exodus Big Preview have BioWare on their resume. But the inspirations for Exodus are much wider and varied than that. In fact, when I…

It’s hard to conceive of a nastier workplace than Mouthwashing’s spaceship – that delirious, foam-clogged labyrinth of cracked sunsets and fire-freshness – but developers Wrong Organ are certainly upping the ante with their new game Carcass Clad. Announced just today, it’s a co-op simulation about a tank crew traversing a gutted and unholy city, loosely inspired by the 1939 “Winter War” between Finland and the Soviet Union. Three players must collaborate to operate a dreadful machine, while going up against other dreadful machines covered in squirming and screaming “divine livestock”. Each player handles a different part of the tank.…

Valheim 1.0 is coming, and with it we’ll be travelling to the Deep North. It’s the last area of the map to be fleshed out, and developer Iron Gate is finally almost ready to unleash it upon the world. To discover what it has to offer, I joined Producer Sara Uvalic and Creative Director Robin Eyre for a trek into the new region. Along the way, we tackled gargantuan trolls, got lost deep underground in a network of winding tunnels, and got to grips with the survival game’s new grappling hook. The Deep North itself is absolutely beautiful, a picturesque…

Valheim 1.0 finally has a release date, with its long awaited Deep North biome set to arrive in just two months’ time.Announced during today’s PC Gaming Show, viking survival game Valheim 1.0 is set to leave early access on September 9. Considering that it first launched on PC back in early 2021, it’s been a pretty long time coming, but that’s also given it plenty of time to build up a dedicated fanbase. With over 255k reviews logged on Steam at the time of writing, with a Very Positive rating, I imagine more than a few people are going to…

The very essence of videogame design is giving the player control. You choose where your character goes; you choose what your character does. In Where Birds Sleep, however, you don’t get to choose. You don’t get to be the good guy, yet you don’t get to be the bad guy. You live by the consequences of your actions; consequences that cannot be changed. Where Birds Sleep makes you feel helpless; it breaks your heart, and forces you to question your morality. It’s unlike any videogame I’ve ever played. It’s a game where you’re not in control. You are Cormo, who,…

While you can check out everything announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 for a more blow-by-blow account…

We now have a launch date for Minecraft Dungeons 2, and I couldn’t be happier to hear it. The first rather snuck up on me, with a relatively slow start that took a while to ramp up to the pace of the action RPGs it was inspired by. However, once you get through the initial campaign and start unlocking more fancy gear pieces and buildcrafting options, it begins to blossom into a game that has all the trappings of Diablo, but with that signature blocky style. I’ve therefore been clutching at any Minecraft Dungeons 2 news I can get my…
