Valheim 1.0 finally has a release date, with its long awaited Deep North biome set to arrive in just two months’ time.
Announced during today’s PC Gaming Show, viking survival game Valheim 1.0 is set to leave early access on September 9. Considering that it first launched on PC back in early 2021, it’s been a pretty long time coming, but that’s also given it plenty of time to build up a dedicated fanbase. With over 255k reviews logged on Steam at the time of writing, with a Very Positive rating, I imagine more than a few people are going to be rather pleased about this.
With the launch of 1.0, Valheim will also be coming to more platforms. Until now, it’s been limited to PC, Mac, and Xbox One and Series X|S, but we now know when it’ll be arriving on PS5 and Switch 2, as well.
Valheim developer Iron Gate has been teasing the 1.0 release and Deep North expansion for a while now – a dev update from just last week confirmed that “we are entering the final stages of development,” suggesting that its launch might not be too far away, and here we are.
As for Deep North itself, Iron Gate previously announced that it’ll be Valheim’s final biome update. Today’s trailer has given us a much better look at it, and as you might imagine, it looks very snowy. Icebergs cover the water, you can see a gorgeous aurora in the night sky, and what looks like an icy fog shrouds the area.
It’s somewhat bittersweet knowing that this is the last biome, but obviously, very exciting overall knowing that the big 1.0 release is almost upon us. Mark those calendars, there’s not long to wait now.
