No Man’s Sky just added Pokemon battles to its ever expanding universe. The Xeno Arena update (which I’m still convinced must have started life as an elaborate April Fool’s joke) lets you take the animal companions you’ve registered and use them in turn-based battles. At first, I figured this wouldn’t really be that cup of tea; I can’t say the battles have ever been my favourite part of the Pokemon games. Then I remembered that every new No Man’s Sky update is immediately available in VR, and curiosity got the best of me.The companion system in No Man’s Sky has…

Super Mario 64 speedrunning legend Suigi currently holds world records in all five of the game’s major categories. Earlier this year, he started a crowdfunded bounty worth over $10,000 as he practically begged for somebody to beat any of his times. So far, however, Suigi himself has proven to be the only one up to the task, as he’s just broken one of his own world records for the third time since the bounty got underway. When Suigi claimed all five Super Mario 64 records, the game’s speedrun scene was soon declared “dead” – and unlike similar declarations for other games,…

The developers behind an upcoming open-world RPG called The Lantern of the Laughless Saint stop just short of throwing a white glove at Todd Howard’s face in a new trailer for the game, billed as a Morrowind-inspired prologue to an even bigger RPG called The Holy Fool.NerveLabs, whose recent oddball release Angel Engine has fared decently well on Steam, rightly argue that The Elder Scrolls 6 has taken way too long. In fact, “Elder Scrolls 6 is taking so long that we’re just making our own,” the devs say. Well, they also say, “Fuck you, Todd Howard.” But like, in…

It seems we finally have an answer to whether the full Defenders team is reuniting in the MCU as part of Daredevil: Born Again season 3. Well, at least three of them, as Luke Cage actor Mike Colter posted and then quickly deleted a behind-the-scenes photo from the currently in production third season of Born Again showing him alongside Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page.Fortunately, a social media user who goes by the name Levi managed to preserve the photo, which you can see below. It shows all three characters on a prison set, with Matt…

It’s not often you spend 30,000 hours playing a single video game, but when that does happen it’s usually because you’re really, really into it. Not always the case, however, as proven by a fascinating Steam review for Cities: Skylines from a player with nearly 30,000 hours logged. When I first came across this post on Reddit, I had to check for myself, and sure enough, I was able to track it down and confirm that, at the very least, the reviewer had 29,926.3 hours logged in Cities: Skylines at the time of writing. That doesn’t mean the reviewer actually played…

Last year, Xbox Game Pass got a massive, 50% price hike that made the top tier of the subscription service a whopping $30 per month. New Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma seems to recognize that’s a problem, according to a leaked memo which suggests she’s keen to offer a cheaper – or at least “more flexible” option for players.”Game Pass is central to gaming value on Xbox,” Sharma says in an internal memo to Xbox employees, which was obtained and published by The Verge. “It’s also clear that the current model isn’t the final one. Short term, Game Pass has…

Being an early pioneer of 3D RPGs, Final Fantasy 7’s polygonal visuals haven’t aged particularly well in the 29 years since its original release, especially compared to the timeless pixel art that defined the series up until 7, but there’s no arguing OG Cloud and co. are some of the more iconic character designs in PlayStation history. That’s why, even though Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth are objectively prettier games, there are still some old-school purists who want to play the remade games with the original character designs, and if this intrepid modder is successful, you’ll soon be able…
