Get a free Steam key for Invincible VS, the new fighting game based on the hit Amazon Prime series
What if Superman was a bad guy? That’s not exactly an original question, but Invincible is one of the most interesting ideas born from the ‘superhero gone bad’ premise. Full of violence, guts, and gore, both the comic book and the Amazon Prime TV series deliver a finely crafted narrative that knows when to call it a day. As a result, it was inevitable that something like Invincible VS would eventually come along, and we’ve got a free Steam key of this new fighting game to give away. Deceivingly simple to start with, Invincible VS is a tag fighting game…
Boss confirms NFL 2K revival ‘didn’t work out creatively’, 6 years after multi-game announcement
Take-Two has confirmed that a planned NFL 2K revival didn’t come to fruition, after the publisher struggled to find a direction for the sports series.Six years ago, Take-Two announced a multi-game partnership with the NFL, exciting fans of its classic NFL 2K series – which ended in 2004 – over a potential revival for the Madden rival. The deal covered ‘non-simulation’ games, according to the announcement, meaning EA’s own NFL license used for the Madden series was unaffected, and presumably, the new games would have to be designed in an arcade style. However, by 2024, Take-Two’s first NFL title, mobile game NFL…
Old School RuneScape is so old and so big that the devs are about "to run out of" a key tech resource and have to do "a bunch of work to stop the game exploding soon"
Old School RuneScape developer Jagex is fast approaching the kind of technical obstacle that, in some ways, many MMO creators would kill for: the game’s apparently been around for so long, and has added so much new content, that it’s about to run out of an essential technical resource that risks, in one developer’s words, “the game exploding.”This revelation began, as many interesting OSRS facts do, with a joke on the 2007scape subreddit. A fake social media post attributed to beloved developer Mod Ash reads, “I’m afraid the engine has finally reached its limit. We’ve decided the only way to…
Stranger than Heaven, out this winter, sees the Yakuza devs blend Snoop Dogg into a musical adventure/Tojo Clan origin story that looks fascinatingly quirky
Right. So. Stranger Than Heaven, the Like A Dragon/Yakuza devs’ hop through different decades of 20th century Japanese history? Snoop Dogg’s in it. And, also, it’s telling the story of how the Tojo Clan – the famous yakuza group Kazuma Kiryu belongs to – came to be founded. Oh, and it’ll have you wandering around town sampling the sounds of brooms sweeping and steam trains chugging so that you can turn these into symphonies, as you plunge headlong into a career in band management. All of that and more has just been shown off in a fresh look at the…

Transport Fever 3 developer Urban Games has announced a surprise publishing deal with Paradox Interactive. The studio’s long-awaited city-building game is set to launch in 2026, putting the focus on laying the infrastructure that keeps the world humming along in a truly interconnected fashion. It says this new team-up with Paradox, which most notably published Cities Skylines 2 in October 2023, “is a perfect match and a natural fit, as we both share the same values and commit to a player-first approach.” Urban Games is quick to establish that Transport Fever 3 “will be realized exactly as envisioned – only…

I recruited Gothic 1 Remake's most notorious NPC and a pair of molerats for 4 hours of unbridled RPG chaos
By the time I reach the gates of the Outer Ring, I’ve made my peace with Gothic 1 Remake. I have no map. I have no weapon. I have no money (or, in this case, ore nuggets). But what I do have is a pair of bugged-out molerats following me into the camp, screeching all the while.I’d just made the apparent mistake of wandering into the underbrush near the camp’s south gate, where two ugly, toothsome beasts immediately took note of me. Eyeless though they were, their hooked snouts clearly scented my “freshie” status as a newly-delivered Convict trapped behind…
From the co-creator of Celeste comes City of None, a metroidvania about a wooden adventurer in a dying metropolis
Celeste remains one of my favourite platformers, so of course I’m always curious about whatever developer Extremely OK Games might put out. And while the full studio itself seemingly isn’t ready to reveal what’s next, at least one core dev is. EXOK Games (as they’re also known) announced today that they’ll be publishing City of None, a metroidvania with some lush pixel art by Celeste co-creator Noel Berry, alongside his brother Liam. “A metropolis crumbles into ruin as powerful barons satisfy their greed upon souls lost in time,” explains EXOK of the Berry brothers’ new game. “You are…
PUBG comes out with another collab, one that can net you thousands of dollars if you're popular enough
PUBG has been a fairly quiet winner for many years, pretty much since its emergence as the battle royale nearly ten years ago. It merged realistic gunplay with high-stakes situations and introduced the BR format to the mainstream. It was a hit, and a cursory glance at the Steam player charts at any time of day will tell you that it continues to be a hit. One thing that PUBG has done in more recent years is bring in a steady stream of collaborations with different brands and products. These range from the mildly cynical product placement events, like the…
