Yet another Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 lead joins CD Projekt Red as it juggles development on The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk 2, and more

Over the past year or so, CD Projekt Red has welcomed quite a lot of talent – over 220 new developers, in fact – with a good few of them coming from RPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3 and, of course, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and its predecessor.

As work on The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2 presses on, CD Projekt Red is pulling in a good few new devs from other legendary studios. In December, an ex-Baldur’s Gate 3 dev joined the team, while a former Mass Effect lead hopped on board as AI director in February.

In between, there have also been a couple of Warhorse Studios veterans making their way to CD Projekt Red, like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 designer Karel Kolmann.

It appears another past Warhorse dev is joining CD Projekt Red’s forces now, too, as Zdeněk Glatz – a senior Kingdom Come: Deliverance designer and writer – reveals in an exciting post on LinkedIn.

Although he only leaves a few exclamation marks himself, attached is an image that reads, “I’m happy to share that I’ve joined CD Projekt Red.” Glatz’s new title is visible as well: senior open world designer. Which RPG is he working on, though?

Well, it’s not exactly clear. The picture does mention that CD Projekt Red is the creator of Cyberpunk and The Witcher, but Glatz’s actual profile doesn’t detail which game he’s going to be focusing on as a senior open world designer.

I’d imagine it’d have to be either The Witcher 4 or Cyberpunk 2 – or perhaps both – as they’re the studio’s two “big” projects right now, but only time will tell what Glatz will be credited with in the end.

There is also, unsurprisingly, some discussion on what this could mean for Warhorse Studios, as multiple devs have moved on to CD Projekt Red now. Over on Reddit, folks question if it “spells trouble for Warhorse’s next game” – but I wouldn’t bet on it, personally.

It’s not uncommon for people to move around in the industry, especially when there are so many new games underway to work on. CD Projekt Red just so happens to be one of many.

As for Warhorse Studios, there are talks of a Kingdom Come: Deliverance movie or TV show in the air, as Daniel Vávra, studio co-founder, has stepped down from his position to focus on bringing the RPG duology to the big screen.
