The latest episode of The Boys season 5 has sparked a new theory that a major character might be making a return. In episode 4, Homelander and Soldier Boy team up to hunt for V-One at the abandoned Vought facility Fort Harmony.
However, on the way there, they end up discussing a mutual friend, Clara Vought, AKA Stormfront. After realizing they’ve both known her intimately, Soldier Boy questions his son what happened to her – and the reply is pretty interesting.
Homelander says she died by suicide but neglects to mention how Ryan left her maimed from lazering before she took her own life. However, Soldier Boy doesn’t buy it, branding it as “horseshit”, before asking, “Did you see a body?” As Homelander doesn’t reply to this, some fans have started speculating about Stormfront’s real fate.

Posting on Reddit, one wondered: “Are they now hinting at Stormfront being alive?! Honestly them actually doing the old dumb cyborg Stromfront theories would probably be the craziest twist of the series, but it’d also be on brand for them to completely bait and switch and she’s actually dead.”
A second theorized: “I think she’s gonna be a Supe zombie. My only reasoning is they mentioned The Last of Us.” A third commented on the discussion thread, “‘Did you see a body’ hmm that’s the most Chekhovest gun I’ve ever encountered.”
“Cyborg Stormfront let’s gooooo,” wrote a fourth. “She had the power to put herself on the 7, obviously she has the power to have people disappear her. I just wonder why, and what might bring her out of hiding.”
As some viewers pointed out, all Homelander saw was a body bag, rather than an actual body. And if there’s anything we know about superhero stories, if you don’t see a body, don’t write a character off yet.

Now, there could be a perfectly reasonable explanation to this as Homelander might be protecting Ryan. Given he beat him within an inch of his life last episode, this may be a surprising character development but Homelander’s relationship with his son is nothing if not complicated.
Stormfront and Soldier Boy’s complicated past will also form part of the new spin-off show Vought Rising, which takes place in the ’50s. Both characters will star in the story telling how the first Supes were created, alongside Bombsight who was also namedropped this week on The Boys.
