If you’re not having the best week, spare a thought for the devs on Marathon, who’re dealing with yet another problem. Bungie’s had to disable an entire facet of the futuristic shooter, due to an exploit where players couldn’t be brought back after getting knocked out.
The issue stems from the Cryo Archive, a Destiny-like raid built as part of Marathon’s endgame for a more intense PvP challenge and extra valuable rewards. Players have found they can’t be revived when downed, creating what I can only imagine is a whole lot of frustration, but the devs are aware of the problem and working on a fix.
“As a precaution while we investigate why some players can’t be revived, we have disabled access to Cryo Archive,” a tweet from the official Marathon Twitter account reads. “We’ll do our best to restore access as soon as we can figure out the issue and push out a fix.”

Marathon season 2 kicked off just last week, and it’s been hard going. Several bugs and glitches emerged soon after players began accessing the latest wave of additions, prompting more hotfixes from Bungie as the developers worked to put out all the fires.
Now, we have this, right in the middle of a central attraction in the neon FPS, amid a free week to tempt new players into the fray. In reaction, players are commiserating the state of the game. “It’s impressive how dysfunctional this game has been for season 2,” says a commenter on Reddit. “Good lord. This season has been a pre nerf wstr to the foot over and over again,” another adds.
Let it not be forgotten, Bungie is juggling this with the demise of Destiny 2, as Monument of Triumph, the final update for the beloved MMO, came out this week. As reports circulate that substantial layoffs are coming for the studio, it appears the former home of Halo is struggling to catch a break right now.
Marathon Season 2 takes Bungie’s brutal new shooter one step closer to PvE with a “Sponsored Survival” mode that’s “more PVP-lite” and a “low-risk way to play”
