Nintendo Switch 2 games are pretty notorious for their lofty price tags. While it’s been over a year, I can still remember in fine detail the waves of frustrated posts across social media once players first learned of Mario Kart World’s $80 price tag, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Players will (and have a right to) complain regardless, but you can avoid those eye-watering launch prices if you know where to look. Yes, the upcoming Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave is technically $80 right now for the standard physical edition, but it’s also $69.97 at Amazon, a whole $10 less than its MSRP.
Over the past few months, Amazon has been pretty reliable for knocking $10 off brand-new Switch 2 releases ahead of their upcoming launch dates, and that’s before Nintendo Switch Prime Deals have even started. There’s every chance these prices could shoot back up to their MSRPs after release, so I’ve been sure to share the release dates alongside every game that’s discounted down below.
It’s not just first-party Nintendo game pre-orders that are a tiny bit cheaper than usual today. Orbitals, the retro anime-inspired co-op game that was shown off again in the most recent Nintendo Direct, is also $39.88 at Amazon for a physical copy, when it has a full $49.99 MSRP at the official Nintendo US online store and other retailers.
As a word to the wise, you’ll need to add it and any of the games above to your Amazon shopping basket to actually see these pre-launch prices. As all of these deals are less than the MSRP, Amazon has affixed a “see price in cart” hyperlink over where their prices used to be, likely to get around some particular advertising rules. Or at least, that’s what I suspect.
Yet once you do just that, you’ll see these pre-launch deals are as real as you or me.
