Hideo Kojima is casually flexing on NASA by sharing a graphic showing the cumulative Sams in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach have travelled further than the Artemis 2 Lunar Flyby Mission did in the same 10-day period after the PC version launched.
In a graphic shared onto Hideo Kojima’s Instagram account, titled “Sams vs Artemis 2,” records taken “from a 10 day period after the PC version launch” are shown. Between April 1 and April 10, 2026, the Artemis 2 mission’s Orion spacecraft had travelled 700,237 miles, but in that same period, Death Stranding 2 players had travelled 969,703 miles as Sam on-foot during in-game delivery missions.
Granted, it’s not specified if this is just from the PC version of the game, or rather just a way to advertise the recently-released PC version, although I’m not sure why you would even specify in that case. But regardless, the Sam Porter Bridges hivemind has travelled further than a spacecraft and Kojima is going to flaunt that as is. One user points out the implications of counting every player, saying: “I like the idea of every instance of Sam controlled by us is canon, implying he did it all.”

However, now the question is, will Kojima take this competition literally? If Death Stranding 3 ever happens, could we see Sam delivering packages through outer space in an effort to connect the galaxy? Probably not, but it should.
Hideo Kojima would “rather have the player walk away impacted than entertained,” Troy Baker says.
