More signs point to Diablo 4’s potential arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 after the Blizzard Entertainment ARPG got yet another rating on the platform.
The Taiwan Entertainment Software Rating board recently listed the Nintendo Switch 2 as one of Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred’s supported platforms, despite the game and its expansion not having been officially confirmed for the handheld-hybrid console. The rating was posted to the website in April and either went unnoticed this whole time or was only recently made public. (Good spot, NintendoEverything). Although, the rating seems to have now been scrubbed for good after the internet got a whiff of it.
This isn’t the first time a country’s accidentally (and only maybe) spilled the beans on Diablo 4’s upcoming plans. A security flaw in the Indonesian Game Rating System (IGRS) exposed major spoilers for several games, including 007: First Light, but also showed a Switch 2 rating for Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred. Where there’s smoke…
When asked about a potential Switch 2 port a year ago, former franchise manager Rod Fergusson said, “I think there’s opportunity there for sure. I mean, we have Diablo 3 and Diablo 2 Resurrected already on the Switch, and with backwards compatibility it’ll be playable on Switch 2.”
Fergusson then explained any potential challenges around the port would be less about the hardware – this is a console that can run Cyberpunk 2077 pretty competently, after all – and more about how “live services on Switch have been a little bit challenging in the past.” It’s unclear what those challenges were or if the Switch 2 has alleviated them since, but playing grindy ARPGs on a handheld device until your neck jams at a 90 degree angle is what Lilith intended. Don’t let her down, Blizzard.
After 392 billion monsters slain in Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred, Blizzard stats reveal ARPG players prefer Warlocks to Paladins by almost 2 to 1
