Because of this, it’s incredibly difficult to know just where the Elden Ring movie will go in terms of a narrative. Alex Garland has adapted other source material before, namely with 2018’s Annihilation. Taking Annihilation as an example, it’s clear that Garland isn’t afraid to tinker with a story if he thinks it will suit the big screen better, and we can see this happening with Elden Ring.
Taking on the A-plot of Elden Ring would be an insurmountable feat. Cramming that much lore into a 2-hour affair would be incredibly messy, so we could see the Elden Ring movie taking a small slice of that world and immersing us in it.
