Destiny 2 players end the game exactly as they started it: driving Bungie mad by pushing bosses off a cliff

As part of its final update, Destiny 2 rolled out an updated version of the Pantheon raid challenge, which drops players into a gauntlet of souped-up boss fights. Like poetry in motion, players quickly set about cheesing the new Pantheon with a time-honored tradition: hurling raid bosses into the void.

As trusted Destiny 2 grinder Esoterickk shows, the Pantheon version of the Last Wish raid boss Morgeth can easily be ejected from the world like a cassette tape. Hilariously enough, this is probably one of the simplest and most consistent exploits in Destiny history.

All you need is the updated Ward of Dawn Titan Super and one of the newly released heavy crossbows. Summon the Ward of Dawn orb, embed a few crossbow bolts into it, then pick it up and melee attack Morgeth to send him soaring like a fly ball. I guess something about this setup just confounds the physics of the game engine.

“It sends them flying, and the encounter will complete. Can be farmed on 5 feats for loot and spoils,” Esoterickk explains.

On Twitter, longtime Destiny 2 community manager dmg04 says, “It wouldn’t be a Destiny release if you couldn’t bump a boss off a ledge.”

From the moment Bungie introduced Destiny players to raids with the Vault of Glass, those players have had but one goal: optimize the encounters out of the encounters. Like a fictional rogue AI deducing that humans are the problem, Guardians looked at all the mechanics thoughtfully prepared by Bungie and thought, “What if we ignored all of those?”

So began a long history of cheese strategies, many of which have reduced some of the most powerful beings in the universe to wet blankets, punching bags, or more pertinently, ping pong balls. For the noble cause of effortless loot, I have trimmed the nails of dream dragons, smuggled six extra Guardians into lobbies, terrified bosses with vortex grenades, and even tricked the game into forgetting my very existence like it’s a Skyrim guard who just received his second arrow to the head this afternoon. And until Bungie patches this one out, which it probably will because this kind of destroys the raid loot economy, I support any and all Morgeth space exploration.
