I built the biggest, ugliest vase Double Fine's Kiln would let me and immediately got bullied by better potters
I decide the moment I get my hands on Kiln, the upcoming multiplayer video game from Double Fine where you fight as, with, and against pots of varying shapes and sizes, that I’m going to make the biggest, ugliest vase the editor will let me. I’ve not got long to do it, but I quickly scrobble through all the tools available to me and make an absolute mess of a jug. Gameplay abilities and functions are determined by the shape of your pot, and I’ll soon come to regret my actions.GDC 2026’s Day of the Devs event is technically public,…
EverQuest Legends is the 1999 MMO you know and love born again with more respect for your time
The year is 2026, and a new-but-not-really EverQuest is on the way. Announced today, EverQuest Legends is the same MMO some of you have been playing for coming up to 30 years, just without all the years of expansions. And the graphics look as they did upon launch. And there’s a few modern upgrades. Don’t ask me what the word same means. What seems to be a key difference between the original EverQuest and Legends is how much more approachable it will apparently be for solo players. According to the game’s website, you can still join groups of…
Bloodborne players are celebrating its 11th anniversary by replaying it. Please FromSoft, just give us a remaster
Spare a thought for Bloodborne fans at this time of year. It’s the hit action game’s 11th anniversary, and they’re celebrating by… playing it again. I suppose it helps dry their tears because Sony and FromSoftware can’t agree to remake or remaster the fan favorite game. Ever the folks to make the best of a bad situation, however, Return to Yharnam encourages fans to spend two weeks retracing their steps in FromSoftware’s brilliant world. Bloodborne quickly reached cult status when it was released in 2015, with its grim Victorian fantasy world providing something different to the more traditional dark fantasy…
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream should be a hit, if my daughter’s reaction is anything to go by
Despite not being one of the series people mention when listing Nintendo’s most popular IP, the Tomodachi games are big sellers for the company. The first game, Tomodachi Collection, was a Japan-only DS title that managed to shift 3.2 million units despite only being released in a single region. The sequel, 3DS game Tomodachi Life, got a Western release too and sold a total of 6.72 million copies worldwide. This made it the 11th best-selling 3DS game ever, ahead of the likes of Ocarina of Time 3D, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Monster Hunter Generations. While there’s still a…
Masahiro Sakurai is definitely thinking of Super Smash Bros as he asserts "it would be utterly impossible to grant every request" from fans in Kirby Air Riders
Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has acknowledged the number of requests he receives from fans, but says it’d be impossible to grant them all.Nintendo has released the latest part of the Kirby Air Riders: Development Insights, which have had Sakurai going over aspects of the game weekly – almost like a version of his now-ended YouTube channel – with this week being a “Grab Bag” of remaining features after previous entries went over specific modes in the game. For Kirby Air Riders, Sakurai explains: “We wanted to cater to players who enjoyed decorating with headwear as well, and we knew…
Masters of Albion is getting a closed beta test so you can tell Peter Molyneux if he's full of it again
Fancy forming your own opinion of Peter Molyneux’s supposed final ever game, Masters of Albion? Outside of just commenting on a trailer that plays all the hits, that is? Well, you can, maybe, if you’re lucky enough, as Mr. Molyneux himself has put out a call for you to sign up to beta test the game ahead of its release next month. To do so, you’ll need to do one thing first: join the game’s Discord server. In there, you’ll find a channel that links to a form to fill in to be in with a chance of…
Following the news that Epic Games is laying off 1,000 employees, it has been announced that three modes are being removed from Fortnite. In recent years, Epic has gone hard on adding different experiences to its signature battle royale game, making it a platform that goes beyond the core mode. Now, however, it’s pulling back on some of its more experimental content. In an official statement via Fortnite Status, Epic Games notes that it has “built a lot of Fortnite modes, and in some cases [it has] failed to build something awesome enough to attract and retain a large player…

Even the Crimson Desert marketing lead with 400 hours in the open-world game is stunned to learn this neat cooking tip: "I'm so excited to learn things from the community"
Crimson Desert drops players into a sprawling open-world sandbox with a seemingly endless variety of things to do, and even the game’s marketing lead, who has professed to spending 400 hours in the game, is still learning about new hidden features. One such feature, as pointed out by TheGameVerse on twitter, is the ability to use sunlight to cook food. No, you don’t just throw some chicken breast on a sun-facing rock and let nature do its thing like you’re in Phoenix, Arizona; there’s an actual method to the process that’s pretty neat.It involves the Blinding Flash ability, which you get…
Tycoon god game Sintopia is Black & White above, Dungeon Keeper below, and it's releasing in April
Sintopia, the very Bullfroggy strategy management game from developers Piraknights and publishers Team 17, will release on April 16th. I compared this one to The Screwtape Letters back at announcement, but the more obvious, gamer-brain pitch is that it’s Black & White sitting on top of Dungeon Keeper. That is, a god sim parked on top of a management game, albeit with a greater emphasis on automation than you might recall from Bullfrog’s heyday. In Sintopia, you are the middle manager of Hell. Above you, there is a bucolic, self-sufficient realm of weirdly plant-based humans, all going about…
