Inside the Ubisoft studio remaking Rayman Legends in 3D – and what it means for Rayman’s future
As I flee the South Of France’s sweltering sun and enter Ubisoft Montpellier’s studio doors, I’m immediately reminded of how wonderfully weird Ubisoft once was. Flanked between a Rayman standee and a slightly dog-eared Peter Jackson’s King Kong statue is the studio’s vast and endearingly bizarre back catalog, proudly wall-mounted for all to see.Peering at framed copies of Beyond Good and Evil and Beowulf, near-forgotten god game From Dust, multiple entries of Just Dance, my beloved Zombi U, and Tom Clancy’s Advanced Warfighter, it’s hard not to feel a pang of nostalgia for the creative freedom afforded to developers in…
Rayman Legends Retold has me struggling to justify its place as a remake, but with platforming this good I can't complain
It’s a testament to how rock solid the Rayman platformers have become that, within minutes of going hands-on with Rayman Legends Retold, I’m dashing, twirling, leaping as I bop enemy heads and crash through cages to free my friends like it’s 2013 all over again. Yet, still the most recent Rayman adventure (and available on modern platforms), it feels odd that such a lavish remake has its sights set on recent history. Though it’s nice to feel the muscle memory kick in playing Rayman Legends Retold, that’s also because my hands-on is, for the most part, playing the same levels…
"What the f*** do I pay you for if that’s your opinion?" Gabe Newell reportedly once shouted at one of Valve's Lionel Hutzes during Steam porn debate
Valve boss Gabe Newell reportedly once yelled “What the f*** do I pay you for if that’s your opinion?” at the company’s general counsel Karl Quackenbush during a debate over allowing pornographic media on Steam. Quackenbush is claimed to have been arguing in favour of more stringent content moderation on the platform.
Subnautica 2 devs were glad it worked out after all the scary headlines about delays, but they weren't paying much attention anyway
Up until Subnautica 2 released in May, the writing on the wall was making the aquatic survival game look like a blood-splattered horror movie. Developer Unknown Worlds and parent company Krafton locked horns over launch delays, spontaneous firings, and a missing $250 million bonus that’s at the center of an ongoing lawsuit – but the whole time, lead designer Anthony Gallegos was confident in his team.”The development teams always just kind of put their heads down and made the best thing they possibly could,” Gallegos tells MinnMax host Ben Hanson in a new interview while discussing how relieved Unknown Worlds…
I want you to look me dead in the eyes and tell me you’ve never copied the way an animal moves in your life. Just try to, I’ll know you’re lying. I know you’ve hopped like a frog, flapped your arms like a bird, ran on all fours like a dog. It’s fun! How about a video game where you sort of do the same thing? Well, I’ve got one in my pouch called Mimic Meadows, a puzzle game in which you copy the movement of animals to transform into them. Out the gate you will feel a…
Suddenly, the rumors about a Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis delay are looking a lot more believable. Ahead of tonight’s PlayStation State of Play, Amazon listings went live suggesting that the release date had been pushed back to February 10, 2027, a delay from the previously announced 2026 launch window. The Amazon pre-order listings were quickly removed, but not before accounts like Wario64 on Bluesky preserved the details for posterity. In addition to the February 10 release date, the listings also detailed a pre-order bonus for an early unlock of a Survivor outfit inspired by Lara Croft’s 2013 look. The PC version…
Marathon season 2 kicks off with a "PvP-lite" mode that sounds more like a sidestep for those after PvE
Marathon season 2 kicks off today, acting as a fresh start for every single person who’s played so far with its complete wipe of all gear. For this first week of the season, it’s also going to be free-to-play for anyone, clearly a big plea for those that haven’t yet tried it out to give it a fair shake. To do that, Bungie will be doing their first test that eases up on the challenge by offering a “PvP-lite” mode called Sponsored Survival. Here’s how it works: you and your crew infil onto Night Marsh, the newer, creepier…
Crimson Desert DLC is on the way, as Pearl Abyss clues us in on the next few months of updates
‘When will I get to start my next Crimson Desert run?’ I often think to myself. I mean, I could jump back into Pywel now, re-fight a few bosses, grab a pet bird or two. However, I feel that there’s always that next big update around the corner that I could have an even better time with. Well, if there’s any time to bite the bullet and stop procrastinating, it’ll be when the newly-announced DLC arrives. Details on that are thin right now, but, from now until September, Pearl Abyss has plenty in the chamber. In a fresh update, the…

Path of Exile 2 studio says "almost all the progression blockers" from the ARPG's latest update have been fixed as endgame and other planned features are detailed
Path of Exile 2’s latest update, Return of the Ancients, is the Diablo 4 rival’s biggest update yet both in scope and in popularity, fueling the highest surge in players since the game’s early access launch back in in 2024. That said, players say it’s also the buggiest update yet, with widespread reports of progression-blocking bugs and crashes plaguing what has otherwise been a well-received update.Return of the Ancients completely overhauled Path of Exile 2’s endgame when it launched late last week with six new endgame storylines as well as the new Ascendancy classes and Pinnacle bosses, but as you…
