I’ll play anything that developer Inkle releases. Ever since I first played Heaven’s Vault – a deep translation game about uncovering alien civilizations which, despite my languages degree, I got catastrophically wrong – I’ve picked up all of its adventures on day one. I’m yet to be disappointed. TR-49 is the latest addition to Inkle’s impressive catalogue, and I played through the whole enigma-cracking World War 2 game on my Steam Deck this weekend. So why isn’t it Deck Verified? TR-49 isn’t your traditional war game. It’s not a competitive shooter with hyper-realistic graphics and live-service elements attached to a…

Forza Horizon developer Playground Games wanted to branch out from its racing series for almost a decade, and are finally doing so with Fable.”The first conversations we had about doing something other than Forza Horizon and building a second team go right the way back to the year after we shipped Forza Horizon 3,” says Ralph Fulton, Playground’s general manager, in an exclusive interview with GamesRadar+. And while Forza Horizon 3 “had gone really well in pretty much every dimension,” as the “team really hit its stride,” new ambitions grew out of its release.”The conversation around building a second team…

Back in 2022, Winnie The Pooh entered the public domain in the USA, meaning that any denizen of that nation can publish work featuring the OG incarnation of A.A. Milne’s honey-supping woodland bear (the UK copyright expires in 2027). At some point in the future, once the newly founded Poohlike genre has matured, we can surely expect a renaissance of Winnie derivatives, ranging from erasure Pooh-ems through josei anime interpretations to Kaufman-ass Hundred Acre existentialism. Right now, though, it’s mostly about horror, because the logical thing to do when the lawyers finally abandon a beloved children’s character is break out…

There are arguments for Resident Evil being an action series, and there are arguments for it being a survival horror series. While elements of both genres are woven through every game, I’m of the opinion that the series ended when they dropped the bomb on Raccoon City. This is where the puzzles died. This is where Leon got buff and gruff. This, to me, is where Resident Evil left the realms of survival horror and, for the most part, became an action series. The fundamentals that made RE so iconic were no more, and Resident Evil became Resident Evil in…

The mighty Liberty Prime stomps through both Fallout 3 and 4 at particular intervals, causing absolute chaos, as giant robots tend to do. In a delightfully meta twist, it turns out the devs at Bethesda had just as much trouble wrangling the four-limbed weapon as anyone in the post-apocalyptic RPGs.”We spent months trying to get him to walk this very specific path. Months…” Angela Browder, associate producer on Fallout 3, now studio director at Bethesda, tells PCGamer. “‘It’s all we’re asking you to do, sir.’ You’ll get Liberty Prime really close, and then some random NPC will run in his…

As anyone who has edited me over the years will know, I am not a great typist. Or, ironically, as I originally spelled it: typoist. Additional letters slip in with every other keystroke, characters within words are all jumbled up, and the crime I’m most often guilty of is skipping out whole words entirely as I rush to get to the end of a sentence. So, it was with trepidation that I installed the demo for Typing Break, a game where the only thing standing between you and the horde of enemies descending the screen is your ability to quickly…

You can’t blame me for being disappointed in last year’s Hive Scum reveal. Warhammer 40k Darktide is one of the best Warhammer 40k games around, but it’s severely lacking in Adeptus Mechanicus representation. I’ve subscribed to the cult of the machine god since before they even had an official miniature range, and I, along with thousands of others, believed that a Mechanicus character was going to be added to Darktide last year. We were let down by the Hive Scum, but developer Fatshark has revealed another playable character is on the way in 2026, so my prayers could be answered.…
