When you finally reach the end of Resident Evil: Requiem, you will be given a choice that will drastically change the end of the game.Grace is finally given control, and it’s up to her – or you – to release or destroy Elpis, Oswell Spencer’s final creation. It’s hard to know exactly what will happen next unless you’ve been reading documents and paying attention in cutscenes, so we’re breaking down the choice you should make so you don’t have to hesitate.Should you Release or Destroy Elpis? – RE9 RequiemRequiem feels quite unique among the modern Resident Evil games for having…
Ahead of Toy Story 5, Hoppers director says Pixar knows "originals have to exist" and "you can't keep making sequels"
This year, Pixar will release both Hoppers, a delightfully original tale about a girl implanting her consciousness into a beaver, and Toy Story 5, another installment in the iconic, beloved animated franchise that kickstarted the studio’s legendary run of films. When we met with Hoppers director Daniel Chong – who worked for Pixar from 2009 to 2014, then returned in 2019 – in London to talk about his new film, we asked for his thoughts on how Pixar is balancing the past and the future.”I think Pixar is still doing a great job of being able to do sequels, which I…
Assetto Corsa Rally's latest update adds laser-scanned Monte-Carlo stages and won't stop shouting about SNOW
Phhheeeeeeeepppppppp! Nope, that isn’t the whistle which signals a rally car’s about to hurtle through this neck of the woods, it’s Assetto Corsa Rally devs Supernova Games Studios trying to get our attention so they can shout about SNOW. They’ve added some to their uber-simmy rally sim in its latest early access update, and it coats some new laser-scanned Monte-Carlo trails.
The Epic Games Store's new, free puzzler is all about boxes, and I can't believe I'm more excited about it than Marathon
Life is about the simple things. Sunshine. The smell of freshly cut grass. Fluffy animals. It’s a trend we’ve seen take over videogames, too: Powerwash Sim, American Truck Sim, hell, there’s even A Game About Digging a Hole, and yes, that is its name. While Expedition 33’s spectacular world and hard-as-nails combat has its allure, as do the vast plains of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2, sometimes you just want to sit down and chill out. One of this week’s Epic Games Store free offerings, Boxes: Lost Fragments is perfect for doing just that, and while boxes and videogames already…
Resident Evil: Requiem is available now, and it’s a modern Resident Evil game that splits the series’ two distinct styles straight down the middle. On the one side, we have Grace’s trip through the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center, which is clearly inspired by Resident Evil 2’s RPD. On the other hand, we have roundhouse-kicking Leon Kennedy, who returns to Raccoon City for the first time since the incident and cracks skulls in true Resident Evil 4 fashion. For more opinions on the game, make sure to read our full Resident Evil: Requiem review. In this hub, we’re breaking down the game…
Final Fantasy 7 Remake director was surprised that we were surprised Part 3 is being made in Unreal Engine 4: "I never imagined it would become such a hot topic"
Naoki Hamaguchi, director of the Final Fantasy 7 remake trilogy, says he’s surprised by how fans reacted to the news that the trilogy finale would be developed using Unreal Engine 4, rather than the more recent Unreal Engine 5.In an interview with Automaton, Hamaguchi explains he was unaware that people were so invested in the team’s choice of engine for the Final Fantasy 7 Finale. “After I mentioned in another interview that we would continue using Unreal Engine 4 for the third game, it became quite the topic online, and it made me realize anew how much interest people have…
Been a while since I’ve done one of these. Been even longer since I didn’t have a complaint about wonky performance or some manner of debilitating stutter issue to open it with. Nope, Resident Evil Requiem is, on the technical side, a big and shiny blockbuster like they should be made: a good looker and a smooth runner both, almost regardless of graphics card heft. It is, as Capcom promised, the anti-Monster Hunter Wilds. Not a bad shooty-horror game, either.
The race is on to figure out Resident Evil Requiem's 'Final Puzzle,' a "ridiculously complicated easter egg"
Resident Evil Requiem is finally upon us. The much-anticipated return of Leon S. Kennedy, accompanied by series newcomer Grace Ashcroft, has been met with near-unequivocal praise. Capcom has pulled from the decades-long history of the survival horror games to craft something that lands neatly between the intense atmosphere of Biohazard and the full-tilt action of RE4 Remake. But as you prepare to dig up every hidden clue, keep your eyes peeled for one particular secret that appears to have so far eluded even those with early access. Dig into the Resident Evil Requiem challenges menu, and you’ll find all manner…
One of the most infamous easter eggs in the original Resident Evil 2 is that if you check Albert Wesker’s desk 50 times, you’ll see a picture of rookie recruit Rebecca Chambers in a sporty outfit. The easter egg has been referenced before, and since we return to the Raccoon City Police Department in Resident Evil: Requiem, it only makes sense that the easter egg returns. If you’ve been playing through the game and you’re missing one or two files in the Raccoon City area, then you’re in luck, because we’ve got the solution you need. You weren’t being ignorant: these two…
After 218 episodes and 2 movies I thought I was finally done with The X-Files – but the news of Ryan Coogler's revival has dragged me right back in
If there’s one TV show that I both love with all my heart but also find frequently, naggingly frustrating, then it’s The X-Files.I’ve been obsessed with Chris Carter’s sci-fi mystery series since I saw the first episode on BBC2 in the UK, all the way back in 1994. I was there to witness the show’s rapid ascent to a buzzy, cult sensation and then a proper mainstream success. And I was there to witness its protracted decline into conspiracy arc plot incoherence. The moment where The X-Files started to lose its way is a matter of some debate, though most fans…
