Valve release the Steam Controller's CAD files, so you can channel your inner Archie from Balamory and design mods or accessories for it
The Steam Controller’s now out in the wild, and it’s so nice, we’ve written some impressions of it twice. If just having the thing in your hands (assuming you grabbed one in time) isn’t enough for you, you’ll probably be glad to know that Valve have shared the CAD files for it, meaning techies who fancy modding or designing accessories for it can get cracking.
Steam Controller took "easily hundreds" of attempts to get its layout right, but did Valve nail it?
The Steam Controller was first envisioned almost as soon as the Steam Deck landed, and, according to Valve product designers Lawrence Yang and Steve Cardinali, those early stages of its development involved “easily hundreds” of initial prototypes. Wanting to create a product that harnessed the brilliance of the dual-trackpad controller design of the Steam Deck, the team set to work finding the perfect accompaniment to its handheld that would allow the Steam Deck’s full functionality to be used while docked, while unlocking a new way of interacting with your gaming PC. Speaking to PCGamesN in the run-up to the Steam…
62% of the most engaged video game players no longer buy full-price releases, according to a new survey. That’s according to the Generations in Play report, developed by IGN Entertainment in association with Kantar and UC Berkeley, which it says is based on polling of thousands of “highly-committed” consumers in the US, UK, and Australia.According to the report, 38% of Millennials (people aged 30 – 44) and 42% of Gen Z (those aged 14 – 29) said they still buy full-price games, but only 20% Gen X (people aged 46 – 61) said they would.Commenting on the report, The Games Business’s…

The BenQ Mobiuz EX271UZ sounds really quite exciting on paper, being a 4K 240Hz QD-OLED monitor from BenQ with a significant focus on the gaming audience. When it stops trying to be too helpful, the monitor is absolutely superb, even if it’s missing some key features at such a high price point. It’s a luxury item, so of course the price comes in at $949.99 / £849.99, and at that price,…
Thief, Dishonored and Philip Marlowe combine in Noirmancer, a stealth sim that lets you wipe minds with a snap of your fingers
Oh heck, colleagues, we got one: a promising videogame. Noirmancer is a first-person single-player stealth sim, heavily inspired by the original Thief, in which you are hard-boiled sleuth with supernatural abilities. You are Humphrey Bogart, if Humphrey Bogart were a Dishonored character. Here are some things you can do: swim in midair, transform into vapour, stun alerted guards with pew-pew gestures, and chuck down telekinetic mats to serve as (usefully sound-absorbing) platforms. It might sound like a jumble, like one of those Marvel comicbook movesets they have to prune severely for the sake of a coherent film adaptation, but the…
Even Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred's blue items are selling for billions, thanks to Horadric Cube crafting
Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred makes a huge number of overhauls to the Blizzard RPG, but one of the most significant is the introduction of the Horadric Cube. A powerful crafting tool that was first seen in Diablo 2, with Kanai’s Cube acting as effectively the same feature in Diablo 3, it’s the focal point of putting together the best endgame gear. It’s definitely a significant upgrade over what we’ve had before, and there’s nothing more telling of that than a glance at the D4 trade markets, where even blue-rarity magic items are selling for billions of gold in specific…
Real-time strategy game R.U.S.E. has returned to Steam for the first time in 11 years, courtesy of its original developer. The game was the work of Eugen Systems – which went on to to develop the Wargame and Steel Division series – and was published by Ubisoft in September 2010.It was delisted from Steam back in December 2015, however, with Ubisoft confirming at the time that it removed the game “due to the expiration of licensing rights over certain military items within the game”.Now it’s back on Steam as R.U.S.E. Definitive Edition, with Eugen Systems itself seemingly handling publishing duties as…
Hey Tomodachi Life players, don't invest in the pricey official Switch stylus and grab this alternative pack instead
If Tomodachi Life Living the Dream is consuming your Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 playtime, you don’t have to fork out the $26.99 cost for the officially licensed Nintendo Switch Touch Pen to have a good time drawing up some nightmare-inducing Miis. You don’t (and shouldn’t) need to resort to using a carrot as a stylus either – though I admire the ingenuity.I like the best Nintendo Switch 2 accessories with the official branding as much as the next gal, but I instead picked up a set of MEKO 3 in 1 Stylus Pens for £7.99 (Amazon) / $9.99…

Some of my former Microsoft CoreAI teammates will join my leadership council, Xbox boss Asha Sharma has decided, while also opting to nix some of the plans the company had to push Copilot into their gaming offerings.
A lot of people doubted new Xbox CEO, Asha Sharma. There were swirling questions about her AI background; about whether she was even interested in games, and whether she was the right woman for the job. Now, she’s confirmed that Xbox is no longer developing Microsoft Copilot for consoles and mobile. The Ws just keep rolling in. In a May 5 X post, Sharma doubles down on her plans…
