The Witcher 3 reporting winds continue to howl of mysterious extra DLC allegedly arriving this year, and there's one thing I'd love to see it do
Gerry from the River rides up to a noticeboard. Between contracts, he scans the pinned scraps for a fresh job to take on, only for his eyes to rest on one particularly peculiar bit of prose. ‘There’s a mysterious extra DLC for The Witcher 3 in the works’, this bit of paper claims. ‘Oh, you mean that anniversary patch which was delayed last year?’ Gerry’s mutant brain asks in response. ‘No, seemingly not that one,’ the sentient scrap replies. Gerry grumbles to himself in mild confusion. The RPG’s a decade old at this point, and while CD’s love of relentlessly…
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 may have been the most underrated game to release in 2025. It’s difficult to say that about a title that came fourth in our own Game of the Year 2025 list and picked up awards at other, inferior, websites. It even got nominated for the big gong at the Geoffies. But when I talk to my friends , colleagues, or strangers online, it rarely enters the conversation despite being one of 2025’s biggest hits and arguably the best medieval game ever made. However, the next game from developer Warhorse Studios could be very different, thanks to…
Part visual novel, part QTE reflex test, and part resource management game, I never expected to love Dispatch as much as I do. In fact, I slept on it for the first three months of its life. But December 5, 2025, marks the day I finally gave it a shot – and I’ve not used my Steam Deck for anything else since. That’s weird, because Dispatch isn’t the kind of game I would have picked out for myself on a whim. I chalk it up to the decidedly police-sounding title and accompanying Steam banner – showing two dudes peeing at a…
Hytale will launch with native Linux support, though the Steam Deck is "not officially recommended"
Cubey sandbox crafter Hytale launches into early access next Tuesday, January 13th, after a dicey few months in which it was cancelled, bought out by the original developers, and revived like a majestic square-beaked phoenix. It’ll also have a native Linux version, allowing anyone fed up with Microsoft’s continued bullshit to play it on a system running something that isn’t an increasingly bloated or prematurely abandoned Windows. There are caveats, mind. In a Xitter post announcing the Linux version, Hypixel co-founder and tech director Kevin Carstens – well spotted by Gaming on Linux – stresses that it’ll be an “experimental”…
Code Vein 2 doesn't use generative AI because its dev values "art style" and the "cohesiveness" of its world
Code Vein 2 is right around the corner, and it’s poised to deliver both a mechanical evolution and a narrative reset for the anime RPG. Bandai Namco’s latest keeps the fundamentals that made its predecessor a cult favorite, and transports them into a completely new world and story. Ahead of its release, I sat down with Code Vein 2 producer Keita Iizuka to discuss the new game’s approach, why the developer is staying clear of gen-AI tools, and placing a greater focus on up-front story and characters, rather than leaning purely on the challenge of combat. Iizuka tells me (via…
MCU star Tessa Thompson is keen to return to that universe, it just might not be in Avengers: Doomsday
For stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to neither confirm nor deny their involvement in an upcoming project is practically second nature. One who recently put theirs into action during an interview was Tessa Thompson, who was asked whether we can expect to see her character, Valkyrie, in Avengers: Doomsday.Well, given that half of Hollywood is in the upcoming movie that will see Robert Downey Jr. return to the fold (only this time as Doctor Doom), it’d be hardly a surprise. Nevertheless, Thompson kept things simple about her potential involvement, while making sure not to rule out Valkyrie riding into…
GTA's Ned Luke gets swatted for the 8th time while streaming with Red Dead's Rob Wiethoff: "there's so many douchebags out there, Rob"
GTA 5 voice actor Ned Luke – aka Michael de Santa – got swatted for the eighth time over Xmas. I don’t mean that somebody belted him on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper. I mean that somebody put in a hoax call to emergency services in a bid to have armed police sent to his house. The latest incident happened this December while Luke was streaming GTA Online with Rob Wiethoff, the voice of John Marston in Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2. YouTuber IceBladeNinja has the whole clip for you to watch below.
Valve's new Steam Deck update doesn't promise much, but classic Call of Duty games could see some real performance gains
Ever thought of reliving the early days of the Call of Duty boon by firing up the original Call of Duty Black Ops on your Steam Deck? Chances are, you’ve quickly put that idea to bed after finding out that it’s a hitch-filled mess. Turns out you’re not alone. Lucky for you, if the latest SteamOS beta build is anything to go by, older Call of Duty games could see a huge performance boost. And the benefits aren’t limited to the classic FPS franchise, either. Theoretically, anyway. So what’s the reason for this renewed interest in bringing Captain Price on…
This Switch 2 JSAUX all-in-one carrying case was the saviour of my holiday break, and it's down to a record low
The JSAUX All-In-One Carrying Case was the shining star of my holidays last month. While I struggled with the Tetris-like endeavour of fitting the ridiculous amount of wrapped gifts in the car, the Switch 2 case kept the entirety of my pricey Switch 2 setup compact and protected on the long haul trip to my in-laws.But as much as I swear by cases like it, they can be pretty pricey and, therefore, difficult to recommend. The official version from Nintendo has a whopping $84.99 MSRP, which is more than a brand-new game. That’s why I was ecstatic to see the…
Arc Raiders has aggression-based matchmaking to push pugnacious PvPers together, but it's "not a full science"
If you can’t resist taking cheeky potshots at your fellow players in Arc Raiders, the shooter’s matchmaking can now neatly shuffle you into a session where you’re more likely to get a taste of your own medicine. Developers Embark have confirmed that some “aggression-based matchmaking” has been sprinkled into the game’s systems as of late, making PvP-prone players a bit more likely to be funnelled towards each other.
