Subnautica 2 EA update 1.1 is well on the way, promising heaps of new content for those enjoying the early access survival game. While the next few patches and hotfixes be smaller, featuring changes to existing content, the EA 1.1 update is going to change the game altogether, so if you’ve already finished the story so far, there shouldn’t be too long to wait before you can dive right back in.
Speaking of which, it’s confirmed that you’ll be able to carry on from where you left off when Subnautica 2 update 1.1 does arrive, so there’s nothing to stop you from exploring as much or as little as you want in the meantime. Either way, here’s what’s confirmed for Subnautica 2 1.1 so far.
Subnautica 2 1.1 details
Here’s what’s to come from Subnautica 2 update 1.1:
- New creatures.
- New resources.
- A new biome – “The home of the Collector Leviathan”.
- A new vehicle chassis – the return of the Prawn Suit!
- A “progression and story-driven” extension to the adventure so far.
To go into a little more detail, during the Unknown Worlds Dev Vlog shared on June 4, 2026, Design Lead Anthony Gallegos shares a bunch of information regarding upcoming hotfixes, but also dives into what’s to come in the first major content update for Subnautica 2, EA 1.1.
Mentioning many of the things we already knew from the Subnautica 2 roadmap, Gallegos confirms the addition of new creatures and resources. His statement is accompanied by what looks like a sort of variation on the popular Reaper Leviathan from the first game.
There’s also a new area, which Gallegos calls “The home of the Collector Leviathan”, and he labels this update “the scariest the game has been yet”, suggesting that there’s some truly terrifying adventures ahead – I’ve been fish food for this deadly Subnautica 2 Leviathan a few times already, and it’s not fun.
The most exciting news, however, comes from Gallegos’ teaser that a fan-favorite vehicle chassis is being added, allowing us to “get stompy”, which I can only assume signals the return of the iconic Prawn Suit.
I certainly can’t wait for EA update 1.1, but with proximity chat being added to Subnautica 2 multiplayer, fixes to resource quantities and “predator attack frequency”, and changes to the Biomod system all coming soon, there’s plenty to keep us busy in the meantime. Plus, Blight encounters are being made a little easier – but you might still need our guide to healing those beautiful Subnautica 2 Angel Combs.
