Spider-Noir showrunner says the goal is "to make a version of Spider-Man that no one had seen before," clarifying it's the "same character, different universe" from the Spider-Verse variant

One of the big questions about Prime Video’s upcoming streaming series Spider-Noir has finally gotten a definitive answer. Showrunner Oren Uziel has now confirmed that it’s not the same version of Spider-Man Noir who was introduced in animated form Into the Spider-Verse, saying the goal of the show is to “to make a version of Spider-Man that no-one had ever seen before.”

“Same character, different universe,” Uziel tells Empire. “It’s a different flavor of that character, even though it’s still [Nicolas Cage’s] voice. It’s not a continuation of Into The Spider-Verse. Once [Phil Lord] and [Christopher Miller] introduced the idea of the multiverse, I think you’re allowed to take things and make them your own.”
