Robert Pattinson has his work cut out for him this year, as the star has confirmed that as soon as he finishes the press tour for upcoming A24 movie The Drama, he will go straight back to playing the moody Caped Crusader and begin filming The Batman 2.
“I’m so excited about doing it again,” said Pattinson to French news outlet C à vous when asked about the upcoming DC movie. “We’ll probably finish this press tour in… a week? And then I’ll immediately start doing Batman stuff. The new script is so, so good.”
That sure is music to our ears, as it hasn’t been the easiest wait for the second Batman movie to make its way to the big screen. After The Batman premiered in March 2022, director Matt Reeves confirmed a sequel just a few weeks later at CinemaCon. However, that was four years ago now, and updates have been pretty few and far between since.

Both Pattinson and Reeves are keeping pretty tight-lipped about details on the new movie, but we do know that the sequel is set to take place a few weeks after The Penguin season 1, with Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobblepot set to appear in a handful of scenes. Co-writer Mattson Tomlin has also offered some updates, taking to Twitter saying that the story “feels new and dangerous,” and “the bar couldn’t be higher.”
As for the cast, alongside Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne, we can also expect Andy Serkis to return as Alfred Pennyworth, and Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon. Marvel stars Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan have joined the sequel in undisclosed roles.
Filming The Batman 2 will add to an already stacked year for Pattinson, as in addition to the upcoming romantic drama with Zendaya, we will also see the star in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part 3 as villain Scytale.
The Batman 2 releases in cinemas on October 1, 2027. For more, check out our ranking of the best Batman movies, and keep up with upcoming DC movies coming your way.
