The Boys season 5 is rapidly approaching, and with the stakes higher than ever moving into the series finale, William Butcher actor Karl Urban says it’s a return to what made the show great in the first place.
“It really feels like peak Boys this season, having the gang back together in the way that we did in seasons one and two, and every week coming up with a new way to not only take down Homelander, but also taking down other Supes along the way,” Urban tells TV Insider. “To me, that’s The Boys at its best.”
Mother’s Milk actor Laz Alonso echoes Urban’s sentiments in the same interview, saying that the production returned to a more team-focused approach where everyone’s reunited in their mission to kill Homelander.

“I was looking forward to doing scenes again that reminded me of season 1 and 2, where the whole team is back together,” adds Alonso. “Those days are typically longer, cause everybody’s got coverage, and everybody’s got a line. But there is a little bit of nostalgia at going out the way we came in. You know, the Spice Girls, working together as a team again.”
The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke previously said working on The Boys, which has now fully wrapped production, is the best filmmaking experience he’s ever had.
“The last color tweaks on the last VFX shots of the last episode of The Boys,” Kripke stated. “Now 100% done. It never truly hit me that it’s over, cause there was always something to work on. Until today. This was the best professional experience of my life. I hope you like it. April 8.”
