As Mojang continues to focus on smaller updates for Minecraft, like its recent Tiny Takeover drop and the soon-to-come Chaos Cubed, the creators behind one of the sandbox game’s most beloved mods reveal that they’re now working on Hytale.
For anyone out of the loop, Hytale is a big Minecraft-inspired sandbox RPG that’s been in the works for a good decade now, having just launched into early access in January. Its creators, Hypixel Studios, are the same folks behind Minecraft server network Hypixel – and it seems like even more community figures are set to join the team…
The developers behind Create, one of the best Minecraft mods out there, to be precise.

Create itself has been around for quite a few years now, serving as a handy mod containing various useful building tools and technology based on real-world kinetics – basically a steampunk lover’s dream come true –and its devs attribute its success as the reason they’ve “been approached by the Hytale team to assist with game design” now.
They reveal as much in a new GitHub post, explaining that they’ve agreed to help with Hytale.

“For however long they’ll have us, we’ll be focused on creating new game mechanics with them,” as they write. What does this mean for Create, though? “Create for Minecraft is not ‘over’ and is not being handed off,” the devs say.
“The team is simply busier than usual, and isn’t focusing on developing big new features. The Create team will still aim to help the community where we can.” And, no, “Create is not being ported to Hytale.”
As for what the Create modders are doing with Hypixel Studios, they state, “Our role there is to improve the core game first. There is still some foundational work to be done before something like animated mechanical systems could even be considered.”
But, their message also reads, “I will do my best to convince them” – so, you know, don’t rule out Create-esque content in Hytale just yet. It might happen… one day, anyway.
The message concludes with a statement aimed at fans supporting Create via donations: “Given that my current focus is on Hytale, you might want to reconsider supporting, as this may not be what you expected.”
Honestly, I have a feeling the community will take this news quite well – or, at least, I certainly am. I love the idea of Minecraft icons teaming up to work on a new project, and also the thought of some of Create’s unique flair seeping into Hytale.

Hypixel Studios lead Simon Collins-Laflamme has spoken out on the Create modders joining forces with his own team, too, writing in a post, “True. They’re fully part of our core design team now, shaping the game at a foundational level. Getting that right is what eventually opens the door to automation and a whole lot more! The future of Hytale is looking really good. Just gotta let us cook for a bit.”
So, yeah, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Plus, Collins-Laflamme even adds, “We got more surprises coming.”
I’d say there’s a good chance we’ll see Create rub off on Hytale in the future – but even if it doesn’t, I’m pleased to see the Minecraft masterminds working together. I’m not alone, either. As one fan’s comment puts it, “That kitchen is full of next-level chefs.”
