How to make and move duckweed in Pokemon Pokopia

Creating habitats and more alluring environments by using duckweed in Pokopia is a useful thing to know how to do, especially as it unlocks Pokemon like Dragonite for your little towns. However, it requires a little more finesse to create than just plucking grass from the ground with your Bulbasaur-like tentacles, so here’s how duckweed in Pokopia actually works.

    1. Upgrade your Leafage Ability with a salad

Making a salad using two leaves in Pokemon Pokopia

In order to spawn some duckweed you’re first going to have to upgrade your Leafage ability using food. This is a temporary upgrade to your ability, but it’s easy enough to boost as and when you need it.

You’ll need a chopping board – unlocked via requests in the Rocky Ridges area – and just a pair of leaves. Using these leaves and the chopping board you can make a simple salad that will power up Leafage.

When you’ve powered up Leafage, you can do a lot of different things. Firstly, hold down ZR to plant four different tiles at once, and secondly Leafage can then be used on surfaces that include, rocks, walls, and water.

    2. Use your enhanced Leafage on water

Using powered up Leafage on water will then spawn duckweed in Pokopia. However, as I’ve experienced, it can be a little temperamental. If you’ve made your own waterscape then it can be difficult to get it to spawn duckweed – whereas in existing water sources it’ll do it automatically when using powered up leafage.

How to move duckweed in Pokopia

Trying to use rototiler on duckweed in Pokemon Pokopia

At the time of writing, it doesn’t seem like there’s a way to pick up and move duckweed in Pokopia. The Rototiller ability just simply doesn’t work on duckweed and there’s no way to pick it up. Using cut just turns it into leaves too.

So if you want to create landscapes or habitats using duckweed you’ll have to grow it from scratch using powered up Leafage.
