As with most blueprints, obtaining the repair tool in Subnautica 2 requires scanning various fragments and discarded tools around the world. You’re unable to pick these items up, instead being forced to make your own kit, which I think is a nice touch, especially since these items have probably been here so long they’d stand no chance of working any more.
To unlock the repair tool blueprint, you’ll need to scan three fragments, and while they can be found all over the map, including in the later game areas, there are three easy-to-find repair tools near your lifepod. To make getting one easy, I’ll list those three Subnautica 2 locations here, as well as a few others.
Where to find Subnautica 2 repair tool fragments
Here are some easy spots to find and scan the repair tool, starting with the three easiest to find in the early game:
- Inside the canteen Cicada Wreck, about 280m south of the lifepod.
- The hidden Colonist’s Bunker, around 250m southeast of the lifepod, and about 120m northeast of the previous location.
- Another 140m southeast of the previous location, inside a large coral dome 94m below the surface. 360m southeast of your lifepod.
- Inside the Lander Garage Cicada Wreck, around 600m northeast of the lifepod.
- Inside the tadpole pens
- Near the Angel Comb beneath the power plant
Be sure to look around when you’re in these areas and others, are there are loads of items that need scanning, including Subnautica 2 rebreather fragments, Habitat Builder fragments, biobeds, the processor, and more.
Crafting the Subnautica 2 repair tool
As I’ve mentioned above, the repair tool is mainly used for repairing your tadpole, but you’ll also need to it get into a few wrecks. Once you’ve unlocked the blueprint, the repair tool crafting recipe requires:
- 1x Titanium Ingot
- 1x Sulphur
- 1x Wiring Kit
- 1x Basic Battery
To craft titanium and other Subnautica 2 ingots, you’ll need a processor, which you’ll be able to scan in some of the above locations, as well as other abandoned research areas and bunkers. I’ve also got a guide on finding Subnautica 2 Sulphur, and you’ll also need some silver to make a wiring kit.
With all that in hand, your tadpole will be ready to go, as long as you keep a Power Cell with you for when it runs out of power.
