Dungeons & Dragons owner Hasbro has severed its exclusive publishing agreement with God of War 3 and Star Wars Jedi director Stig Asmussen after viewing his new studio Giant Skull’s single-player D&D game in its fledgling stages, Bloomberg reports.
IP holder Wizards of the Coast tells reporter Jason Schreier the company ditched the partnership, revealed in a flashy June 2025 press release, earlier this year upon deciding “not to pursue an early concept from Giant Skull.” Nonetheless, the company will accept new games pitches from Giant Skull in the future and tells Schreier, “We have great respect for Stig Asmussen and his team and value our ongoing relationship.”
In 2025, Asmussen described the unnamed action-adventure game as an opportunity for his developers “to sink our teeth into something that’s legendary.” Hasbro seemed to agree in its press release, describing Giant Skull – which Asmussen established in 2024, after leaving Respawn once Star Wars: Jedi Survivor launched – as “an elite team, all of whom will be instrumental in shaping this new single-player focused action adventure, utilizing Unreal Engine 5, from the ground-up.”
