Rockstar Games – the developer behind the eagerly anticipated GTA 6 and other past favorites like Red Dead Redemption 2 – has confirmed reports that another data breach has occurred, though insists that the latest incident “has no impact on our organization or our players.”
Earlier today, several outlets reported that an infamous hacker group claimed to have breached the company’s secured cloud servers, obtaining a large collection of data as a result. As such, the group is demanding that a sum be paid in the coming days, otherwise what has been obtained will allegedly be leaked.
Now, Rockstar has issued the following statement to Kotaku, posted below in full:

“We can confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach. This incident has no impact on our organization or our players.”
At the time of writing, it isn’t known what information the group has access to, though Rockstar offers some hints about what it might not have. Previously, as Kotaku mentions, it was believed the data could include marketing plans. Rockstar has previously mentioned that GTA 6’s launch marketing would ramp up in the summer, so you could only imagine what kind of headache such a thing could potentially cause if true.
The news follows another incident that occurred in 2022, which saw a swathe of early GTA 6 gameplay footage and assets leak online. Fast forward to today, the main person responsible has been sentenced to life in a hospital prison, only to be released when a doctor deems the individual no longer a danger to others.
GTA 6 is due to release on November 19, 2026.
