Overwatch fans are lamenting that Fortnite is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the hero shooter better than Blizzard itself is.
Earlier this week, the Overwatch 10th Anniversary Event kicked off in-game, and very quickly, fans discovered that it kinda stinks. Most of the new cosmetics are the Decennium Skins, which are purple and white recolors for the original cast. But at the same time, the Fortnite x Overwatch collab also kicked off this week, which brought Tracer, Genji, Mercy, and D.VA to the game as skins, as well as making some changes to battle royale mode with Tracer’s guns, Mercy’s Staff and a number of POI’s taking the form of iconic Overwatch locations.
Over on Reddit, a post laments that Fortnite’s crossover does Overwatch more justice than the game’s own devs, with responses saying “I’m actually more excited to play Fortnite’s Overwatch mode than the actual Overwatch.” Another adds, “Epic just made Blizz look absolutely pathetic.” Meanwhile, another puts it simply: “When the crossover vastly outshines the anniversary…”
