Fortnite's next Icon skin brings another grammy-winning pop star to the game

Following the likes of Sabrina Carpenter and the stars of K-pop Demon Hunters, another pop star is coming to Fortnite as part of the long-running Icon series. This time it’s Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey, who’ll be joining the action, and you’ll be able to pick up her skins in the fight against Homer Simpson, Lara Croft, Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins, and everyone else. If you’re a fan of her music, this might be the perfect time to try out a new skin.

While Laufey isn’t as mainstream as many of the other celebrities who have been featured in Fortnite’s Icon series, there will be plenty of fans excited for this. We don’t know what the skins or emotes look like just yet, nor how many variants there will be, but they’ll be revealed shortly before they’re released in the battle royale game’s store. Maybe the outfits she’s wearing in the promotional video alongside Peely hint at what the skins look like.

Her inclusion in the Icon series comes quickly on the back of Laufey winning the award for best traditional pop vocal album at the 2026 Grammy Awards. The quality of her music has been widely praised in recent years, following her rise to stardom after appearing on popular talent shows in Iceland.

Hypex on X has revealed that Laufey’s skin will release on Thursday, April 16. The time of the drop hasn’t been confirmed yet, but new skins tend to come to the game at 5pm BST / 12pm ET / 9am PT / 6pm CET. Keep an eye on the store throughout the day, as Icon series skins and collaborations don’t have a set schedule.

This is the first time a new pop star has been confirmed for the Fortnite Icon series since Ed Sheeran revealed that he turned down an opportunity to have an Icon skin in Fortnite. Since he doesn’t play the game, he said he wasn’t interested in being immortalized alongside other artists.
