If you’re a regular reader here, you probably own a plushie or three. It just comes with the territory of being into games and pop culture these days. Now, there’s a video game about making tons of the cute collectibles, and it’s coming soon.
In Toymaker: Threads of Joy, you manage a shop that produces bespoke plushies for all manner of customers. This involves taking people’s orders, putting them together piece by piece, then upgrading your sewing machine and other equipment for more elaborate and adorable creations.
“After inheriting your mother’s plushie shop, Los Soñadores, you’ll set sail to reconcile with the craft and the memory of your mother,” says the description on Kickstarter. “As the word gets out about your shop, customers will commission new toys and haggle for a better price. Your reputation will go up or down depending on how you treat your clientele.”

While doing all that, you’ll start to uncover different aspects of Salamanca, the setting and the main character’s hometown, including all sorts of myths and legends. If that sounds intriguing, you’re not alone, as the Kickstarter campaign’s raised £18,659, easily overshooting the £8,721 that was needed. There’s still ten days left to go as well. The game hails from Uprising Studios, a small outfit responsible for colorful platformer Scarf from 2021.
Toymaker: Threads of Joy makes for a big contrast, but the available clips are already filling me with confidence. The campaign states it’s due to launch in the first quarter of 2027.
