You’ll have a bunch of friends, followers, and even alternate characters before you finish Crimson Desert, but one of the most important additions to your team is your dog.

During The Greymane’s New Fangs, a quest you’ll undertake after speaking to Naira at camp, you’ll be told about a homeless brown dog that Naira desperately wants to take in.

You can conclude this quest by taking in the dog after raising its trust in you, but the game doesn’t do a great job of explaining exactly how that works. For all the details you need to complete The Greymane’s New Fangs quest and summon your new dog companion, read through our guide below.

After riding a horse with Naira, she’ll tell you to buy five pieces of Lean Meat in order to complete the A Chunk of Meat task. This is primarily to feed the dog, and that’s the only real hint the game gives you on taking it in to complete the Fang Without a Master task.

You can take in the dog after raising its trust in you, which you can do by petting and feeding it. You can feed it the Lean Meat you just bought, but doing so is a bit strange.

Navigate into your Inventory, find the Lean Meat, and then hold the Use button to bring up the Take Out option. While holding the Lantern up, you can select a point on the ground to drop the Lean Meat. Drop several chunks in front of the dog between petting it, and the trust level will rise until you finally get the Take In option, which adds the beast to your squad.

How to summon pets – Crimson Desert

Summoning pets is pretty easy, but like most tasks in Crimson Desert, the game doesn’t do a great job of explaining it.

Navigate to your Inventory menu, and then above your equipped items, navigate to the Pets tab. From here you can summon and unsummon your pets at will, in addition to equipping them with new items.

The dog is a great addition to your team, as it will actually loot corpses you leave behind in battle. It won’t loot everything, but it will save you a decent amount of time in the long run.
