Xbox has shown more gameplay from Clockwork Revolution, but still hasn’t confirmed its release date.

The game, which is described by developer InXile Entertainment as a “time-bending steampunk first-person RPG”, was originally revealed back in 2023, then not much was heard from it until last year’s Xbox Games Showcase.

Last year a five-minute gameplay trailer was released – this year’s trailer wasn’t quite as long but still showed off more of the game’s time-travelling plot.

One thing missing from the trailer, however, was a release date. During its initial 2023 reveal InXile said it would be “coming in due time”, a message repeated in last year’s trailer.

This year’s trailer made light of this by once again saying “in due time”, before being replaced with “2027”.

“You are Morgan Vanette and your look, your skills, and your choices can shape you throughout the game,” explained game director Chad Moore in a statement.

“Who you’re seeing in the trailer is just one version, not the version. At the start of Clockwork Revolution, you’ll customize who Morgan is, and through your decisions during the game, who Morgan becomes.

“Guiding you through this world is Prentice, a flying automaton you meet very early in the game. She’s part observer, part companion, and will join you on your adventures across the timescape.

“She’s tied to how you end up with the Chronometer (the device that makes time travel possible) and becomes your guide through the branching realities you create. She’s got her own abilities and her own skill tree, and she’ll give you new ways to see and interact with the world.”

The game will be released on Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2027, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass.

It’s one of two games that were confirmed to be Xbox console exclusives during the Xbox Games Showcase, the other being Gears of War: E-Day.
