The Boys showrunner says Vought Rising spin-off is "really graphic, really profane" and is "a lurid, pulpy detective story"
While The Boys season 5 might be the end of the mainline show, the universe is set to live on with multiple spin-offs, including Vought Rising. That show will be a prequel starring Jensen Ackles’s Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront, and it sounds like it won’t hold back.”If Gen V was our take on a coming-of-age college show, then Vought Rising is our tone mixed with a ’50s detective show,” The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke told SFX magazine. “It’s a lurid, pulpy detective story, but done in our tone. So really graphic, really profane, lots of sex and violence. It’s…
Marathon's next update will help your vault feel roomier, and Bungie outlines their plans for higher-end PCs
Marathon has entered its second week of existence, even if it somehow feels like it’s already been around forever (perhaps that’s the discourse I’m remembering now that I think about it), and Bungie have been ticking away at updates bit by bit. Just this week an update was introduced that made UESC enemies a tad weaker, and now Bungie have outlined what you can expect from update 1.0.5 which is coming to the shooter next week. For starters, your vault space will be looking a bit roomier. That’s because you’ll be able to stack greater quantities of consumables, ammo,…
The only thing missing from this Cuphead-meets-Doom boomer shooter is the heavy metal soundtrack
What if Disney had made Doom 100 years ago? And what if, instead of a grizzled marine, it starred a noir-tinged hardboiled detective that also happens to be a mouse named Jack Pepper? That’s the wavelength that Mouse: P.I. For Hire from developer Fumi Games and publisher PlaySide is working on. None of this should exactly be news to many people – the trailers for the game have previously gone some level of viral – but actually sitting down and playing Mouse: P.I. For Hire on the Nintendo Switch 2 during GDC 2026 is a bit like seeing the magic…
Hunt witches and question what's right in the murky but compassionate sounding WITCHHUNTER.exe
You know, I wish there were more morally dubious protagonists in the world of video games. I know why there’s not, many people want to identify with the characters they’re embodying. But then I think about every other storytelling medium out there and how some of my favourite pieces feature people that aren’t supposedly good or heroic, and long for the same in games. So, I’m quite interested in WITCHHUNTER.exe, a throwback text adventure game that actually has quite a lot of pretty pixel art where you play as a priest that must uncover witches in a rural town…
Another day, another out-of-touch executive weighing in on subjects they know little about. Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra is never one to keep his thoughts to himself, and he’s taken to social media to criticize Korean RPG, Crimson Desert. He’s not taken umbrage with the dull quest design or struggling performance; instead Ybarra has strong thoughts about the game’s use of generative AI. Unfortunately for him, his take that the developers at Pearl Abyss should “man up” and stop apologizing for using the technology is the exact opposite of how the general public feels. Despite selling over two million copies…
As The Boys' final season approaches, Eric Kripke slams sci-fi shows that end with no casualties: "I keep yelling at the screen, 'Things cost things! You can't get away with this!'"
The Boys’ Eric Kripke says that “one of the joys” of ending a show is “you don’t have to be precious with keeping anybody alive” – and now we’re seriously worried for our Homelander-fighting faves. In a new interview with SFX magazine, which hits newsstands on March 25, the showrunner shared his disdain for “big, epic sci-fi” series that wrap up with no major deaths. In other words, he not-so subtly confirmed that the likes of Billy Butcher, Hughie, and co won’t all make it to the credits of the Prime Video drama’s last-ever episode.”You can let people have the emotional…
Eye of the Match is Papers, Please, Severance, and Pro Evolution Soccer 2 mixed up into an enticing concotion
“Popular game, but you do this instead,” is a tale as old as time, birthing efforts that range from rote to deliciously fresh. Making comparisons like that is always a gamble, as you’re immediately pointing towards the gold standard that your game has to at least be almost on par with, perhaps even better, to make any real headway. And while I haven’t played Eye of the Match, it being billed as Papers, Please, but you’re a virtual referee for football matches is certainly a pitch I can get behind. In Eye of the Match, you, as a…
This list of Bee Garden codes gives you un-bee-lievable free gifts to use in the game, which come in very handy and save you some cash. For instance, the free sprinklers will water your plants for you, and keep everyone happy – that means bees make more honey, which turns into more money. Fill your plot with flowers of all kinds, then watch as your bees visit them and deposit that golden honey in the pot. Don’t forget to visit the queen from time to time, too, as they can give you different types of plants. Here are all of…
Project Hail Mary directors say Steven Spielberg pitched that Close Encounters of the Third Kind Easter egg: "He's like, 'Wouldn't that be funny?'"
Project Hail Mary directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller say that the film’s Close Encounters Easter Egg was pitched by Steven Spielberg himself.Warning: Mild spoilers for Project Hail Mary ahead!”It was a pitch that Steven Spielberg pitched to us right before we left for London,” Lord explained on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast. “We were talking to him about the movie, and he’s like, ‘So the alien speaks in song… You should have [Ryan Gosling] do the Close Encounters theme. Wouldn’t that be funny? And we were like, ‘Well if you said, you said it, and I’m calling that a…
Embark have been replacing Arc Raiders' AI voice lines with real people, but that doesn't mean they've sworn off using it behind the scenes
The biggest stain on Arc Raiders is easily the use of AI voice acting. It stinks! There’s no soul to it, and it deprives actors from being able to perform their craft. But, based on some comments from CEO Patrick Söderlund, it sounds like Embark are finally starting to realise that, oh yeah, it is actually better to work with a real human being (though this doesn’t mean they’re not using AI any more). Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz on the very legitimate criticism that using AI voice work replaces actual voice actors and is an opportunity to not have…
