I’ve certainly seen some outlandish graphics card cooler designs in my time, but few have evoked such nostalgia as this one. Maybe it’s just me, but the Gigabyte Aorus RTX 5090 Infinity 32G immediately brought to mind 1986’s movie masterpiece, Short Circuit, and its not-at-all-a-killer-robot hero, Johnny Five. Thankfully, while Nvidia continues to push its AI prowess on all fronts, there’s little chance of its best graphics card suddenly becoming sentient, sporting a spiked metal mohawk, and making puns about recycling… unless Gigabyte has implemented some features it hasn’t publicly mentioned. The star of this graphics card show, then, is…

A preliminary employment tribunal hearing for recently fired Rockstar Games developers kicked off this week, with their union seeking interim relief.Late last year, the developer dismissed over 30 staff across its offices in the UK and Canada, stating only that they were let go due to “gross misconduct”.The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) alleged that the employees were fired because they were part of an IWGB Game Workers Union channel on Discord and were either union members or attempting to organise a union at Rockstar. This week, the preliminary employment tribunal hearing for the case kicked off in Glasgow,…

A preliminary employment tribunal hearing has seen the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) request that a judge grant interim relief to the 31 UK-based GTA 6 developers fired by Rockstar, reportedly following discussion of changes to Rockstar’s company Slack policies by staff on Discord. The union, which filed legal claims against the company over the dismissals last year, continue to assert that they were a form of union busting. Rockstar, meanwhile, have released a fresh statement claiming that the root of this is simply stopping info about GTA 6 from leaking.

Minecraft has just unveiled some of the first features coming to its next game drop, and it’s made me all warm and gooey inside. Clearly wanting to start 2026 by tackling the most important tasks first, Mojang has revealed an overhaul for several baby mobs in order to make them way cuter – the perfect prioritization for one of the biggest and best PC games on the planet, if you ask me. With new textures, models, and audio, if you thought Minecraft’s kittens, piglets, and chicks were adorable before, you’re simply not prepared for how they look now. Landing today…

Dwarf Fortress is kicking off 2026 exactly as you’d hope it would: with a minor update offering an utterly wild batch of patch notes. Normal games might tell you things like “nerfed fire duration 3%” or “boosted gun damage 0.2%.” Not so with Dwarf Fortress. Here we get patch notes about illegal werebeasts, mythical dream objects, and mothers seeking children lost in the afterlife. The headline change in the patch notes on Steam is, of course, this: “Mothers no longer seek ghostly babies.” I don’t really know what that means, but given Dwarf Fortress’s heavy simulation system, I can take a…

Back in September, studio game director Rich Lambert told GamesIndustry.biz that the Elder Scrolls Online team were exploring a move from big expansions to smaller, more frequent updates. Jump ahead four months and, well, that’s exactly what they’re doing. Wait, stop running away from me, I’m not bringing you old news reheated like the last of the (now decidedly whiffy) Christmas turkey leftovers, I come bearing fresh details like… a freshly cooked turkey that is seasoned with patch notes and battlepass infographics. Yum.

I often think about what XCOM 3 might look like, and ponder if we’ll ever actually see it. At least there have been plenty of other excellent strategy games inspired by the iconic alien-battling series to fill that void, and another I’ve been eagerly awaiting the full release of is the ambitious Terra Invicta. While developer Pavonis Interactive is most well-known for making the beloved XCOM Long War mod, its new game escalates proceedings out of the realm of individual skirmishes and launches it into the stars in true grand strategy fashion. Terra Invicta 1.0 is finally here, and there…
