Fan-favorite Steel Legion returning to Warhammer 40K after Armageddon book closes out current edition
It turns out that the current edition of Warhammer 40K isn’t quite done yet; we’re seeing out this version of the wargame with a campaign book set revolving around the wartorn battleworld of Armageddon. This brings a host of heroes to the fore alongside new vehicles, but crucially, our Armageddon homecoming will eventually be followed by a revamp of the fan-favorite Steel Legion faction. (Emphasis on the word “eventually.”)Much like previous campaign books 500 Worlds, Maelstrom, and Eye of Terror, “Armageddon: The Return of Yarrick” offers a comprehensive lore overview of the event alongside rules for the many, many different…
New Faces of Death trailer is even grosser than the first, introduces Stranger Things star as villain
A new trailer for Faces of Death has arrived… and there’s no warning label on it this time. This time around, the new trailer gives us a bit more violence and a bit more context. Barbie Ferreira’s character isn’t just some young woman obsessed with the old Faces of Death movies… she actually moderates a YouTube-like website and screens for violent or inappropriate content. When she stumbles upon a website that appears to be recreating some of the death scenes in the Faces of Death franchise, she’s unable to tell what’s real or fake… and ends up in the middle of it…
Disgaea dev's spooky new Stardew Valley-like is finally confirmed for a western release months after its Japanese announcement
Honogurashi no Niwa, a cozy but spooky new farming sim announced for launch in Japan back in July 2025, is coming to the west this Fall as Village in the Shade, developer Nippon Ichi has revealed. The western announcement trailer for Village in the Shade explores a hand-painted and exceptionally cozy Japanese mountain settlement called Kagatsu with fields ripe for the sowing. "F*** me, I guess": Hades 2 actor Ben Starr "hated" himself while playing the roguelike because his character Prometheus is a "hard boss"
Ben Starr, the actor best known for his role as Final Fantasy 16 protagonist Clive Rosfield, had the misfortune of going up against the extremely challenging antagonist he plays in Hades 2, and he had such a tough time that he says he “hated” himself in that moment.Starr plays Prometheus in Hades 2, widely recognized as one of the hardest bosses in a game known for its brutal boss fights. In a recent interview with the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, he admits to having been utterly entranced by Hades 2 but also incredibly frustrated by his own character.”There…
Imagine GTA with AI-generated characters "just going along with whatever insane thing you say," muses Valve writer, absent-mindedly spotlighting what terrifies me about genAI
Like many people at companies preoccupied with discovering the next “goose that lays the golden egg”, Half-Life 2 and Portal writer Erik Wolpaw has been “poking around” with generative AI. He and a small team at Valve have been testing out different applications, in what Wolpaw assures us isn’t a “concerted” effort at implementing the soul-regurgitating, workforce-abrading gadgetry in any particular new game. Wolpaw’s current feeling is that generative AI isn’t very good at anything “creative”, like cracking jokes. But he does think Large Language Models could make for entertaining NPC voice reactions in games such as Grand Theft Auto…
The Sims creator blew 10 years and millions of dollars on his new game, laid off his whole team in 2024, and still isn't done: "I'd much rather have a glorious failure than a mild success"
Will Wright blazed through the early video game industry like a comet – he co-founded Maxis, created the very first SimCity, The Sims in 2000, and released the ultimate life sim Spore in 2008. Much more quietly, Wright has spent the last decade on an AI-enabled, psychoanalytic thing with huge ambitions and zero budget, but he’s determined to keep it breathing.”Kind of like Frankenstein,” Wright tells Vulture in a new profile. It’s called Proxi: Yesterday’s You Tomorrow, and Wright’s studio Gallium Studios revealed it at Game Developers Conference in 2018, though the idea of it has been nagging at Wright…
One of my favourite gaming keyboards is back to its record low price for the US Amazon Spring Sale
The Asus ROG Strix Scope II 96 Wireless has been a long-time favourite mechanical keyboard of mine. That’s because of its highly functional, near-full-size layout, its smooth, lubricated switches, and just the sense that the entire package feels thoughtful and well-put-together. I tried looking for a deal for in in the UK, sadly to no avail, though our US pals will be happy to learn it’s currently $130 from Amazon US in their Spring Sale (that, for some strange reason, is happening over a week after the UK one ended).
Black Ops vet says his mystery PlayStation project wasn't a live-service game, and even if Sony shutting down his studio "f***ing sucked" he reckons it's just because "times change"
Earlier this week, reports emerged that Sony was shutting down Dark Outlaw Games, a first-party studio led by Call of Duty: Black Ops veteran Jason Blundell. Today, Blundell confirmed the news on a Twitch stream hosted by another member of the Dark Outlaw Games team, JCbackfire.”We have to respect confidentiality so we can’t go into every gory detail,” Blundell said during the stream, as highlighted by Kotaku. Neither dev revealed much about the project, but JCbackfire did confirm that it was not a live service game.Despite promises for extensive live service games, Sony seems to have been backing away from…
