Hayden Christensen says Robert De Niro visited the Revenge of the Sith set to watch Anakin and Obi-Wan's duel
Hayden Christensen has revealed that Robert De Niro visited the set of Revenge of the Sith and watched that dramatic duel between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi.”I remember during one of the days that we were filming that fight, Robert De Niro showed up to set, just because he wanted to come see what we were doing – not us, but George, [he] wanted to see what George was doing. And obviously, I am a huge fan of his. I remember just standing with Ewan [McGregor], and Ewan says to me, ‘Is that Robert De Niro standing over there?’ And…
Arc Raiders recently concluded its first Expedition, this being a voluntary, narrative-led character reset achieved by hoarding and donating resources over a set period. The idea is vaguely that ou’re funding a mighty caravan to the boondocks. In return, you’ll get tiered rewards such as faster progression, bonus skill points and a larger stash. Participation in Expedition is split across various stages with different completion requirements – the final leg of the first one saw players amassing non-specific items worth hundreds of thousands of coins. Being opt-in, Expeditions are designed to be a gentler alternative to the playerbase-wide seasonal ‘prestiging’…
League of Legends' art studio is making its own soulslike, but it's a striking antithesis to Dark Souls
For all of League of Legends’ faults, its vibes are absolutely immaculate. LoL’s artwork is unparalleled: it’s consistently beautiful, absolutely desktop wallpaper worthy, and, perhaps most important of all, truly unique. While Riot has its own internal splash art team, it works with a lot of studios to bring Runeterra’s champions to life. SixMoreVodka is one of those, and you’ve probably seen their work in League of Legends itself and its new TCG spinoff Riftbound, as well as Legends of Runeterra. They’re the masterminds behind Cho’Gath, Darius, Renekton, Singed, and OG Viktor’s (RIP) splash art, and now they’re making Orken,…
Ubisoft has announced a proposed organizational restructuring at The Division and Avatar developer Massive Entertainment, which it says could result in 55 people losing their jobs. The proposed restructure affects Massive’s Malmö and Stockholm studios and follows completion of a Voluntary Leave Program launched last year, and a finalized long-term roadmap, which Ubisoft says “has provided clearer visibility into the structure and capacity required to support the two studios’ work and sustainably over time”.Massive’s focus going forward will be The Division franchise, including development of a third game and continued support for the second, as well as the Snowdrop engine and…
Choosing between the Divinity Original Sin 2 Origin or Custom characters is basically about whether you want to play a classic silent protagonist blank slate, or an established figure with a backstory and personality before you get there. DOS2 has six Origin characters, ranging from pirate dwarves to skeleton scholars to lizard lords, but if you’re playing for the first time, is it better to have your own Custom hero or to pick one of the Origin options? We’ll explain below whether Origin or Custom is better for your first time playing through, and what you can explain from each…
"AI is bad, game will be deleted" concludes developer behind sloppy Steam card battler, before setting the self-destruct timer
“AI is bad, game will be deleted 30.1” reads the headline of the latest a Steam update post about Hardest, a rock-paper-scissors-themed roguelike card battler which includes AI-generated assets. “AI is evil, and game will be deleted 30.1” adds the sub-heading of that same update post, just in case the first line didn’t make the situation clear enough.
Assassin's Creed Shadows and Mirage were both "quadruple-A games," says Ubisoft for some reason
You’d think that after the abject failure that was Skull and Bones, Ubisoft’s first so-called quadruple-A game, its developers would realize that gassing up its games in such exaggerated tones could only lead to disappointment from fans. Despite this, one developer has listed both Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Assassin’s Creed Mirage as quadruple-A games on her LinkedIn profile. While they were certainly ambitious open-world games in their own rights, Mirage especially was smaller in scope and (presumably) budget. An 11-year odyssey to create a gargantuan pirate RPG? I can see why you’d call that quadruple-A, especially when trying to encourage…
A UK judge has denied a request from a group of fired Rockstar employees to continue to be paid while their legal case is ongoing.Late last year, the developer dismissed over 30 staff across its offices in the UK and Canada, stating only that they were let go due to “gross misconduct”.The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) alleged that the employees were fired by the Take-Two company because they were part of an IWGB Game Workers Union channel on Discord and were either union members or attempting to organise a union at Rockstar.Rockstar denied the claim, saying the…
Viggo Mortensen has a surprise pick for his favorite Lord of the Rings moment: "It's such a beautiful scene"
Aragon actor Viggo Mortensen has revealed his surprise pick for his favorite Lord of the Rings trilogy scene – mostly because it has “no effects” and “no imaginary monsters.”So, was it Aragorn’s dramatic (and instantly iconic) opening of the doors at Helm’s Deep? His coronation in Return of the King? Apparently not.Speaking to Empire on the 25th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring’s release, Mortensen says the moment of Boromir’s death – one of Sean Bean’s most iconic on-screen demises – “maybe” ranks above all else. You may like “That scene, I have to…
Fired GTA 6 devs suffer setback in legal fight against Rockstar as UK court denies request for interim relief
GTA 6 developers fired by Rockstar last year on the charge of leaking information about the upcoming game have been denied interim relief, as they and their allies at the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain begin their legal case against the company for alleged union-busting. Interim relief is a legal mechanism whereby dismissed employees get short-term emergency financial help from their employer. The IWGB requested last week that a UK employment tribunal grant interim relief to 31 fired Rockstar employees. Had the request been granted, the ousted workers would have been put back on Rockstar’s payroll and had any…
