One of Steam's hottest top-sellers is the zombie apocalypse sim that previously dominated Steam Next Fest, and it's celebrating with a Dead by Daylight collab
Quarantine Zone: The Last Check was a breakout hit at one of last year’s Steam Next Fest events, garnering more than one million Steam Wishlists thanks to a hot demo, and its winning streak has only continued now that it’s properly launched. For a game set in the thick of a zombie apocalypse, Quarantine Zone surprisingly doesn’t cast players as a struggling survivor or a guns-blazing soldier. It instead riffs on indie classic Papers, Please by having players operate a military checkpoint that’s in control of who gets to join the ever-growing, titular community and who needs to be turned away…
DLSS 4.5 is out now, and while previous new versions of Nvidia’s performance-massaging upscaler would have required waiting around for game implementation – beyond the inevitable Cyberpunk 2077 debut, anyway – it follows more recent additions in letting you impose it upon existing games from the off. That’s done via the Nvidia App and its DLSS Override tools, which following an update on January 14th, is tooled up with what version 4.5 promises to be tangible visual improvements. I’ve been testing it, both on this public Nvidia App release and on a pre-release beta build, and DLSS 4.5 can indeed…
The first Hytale update adds dinosaurs and improves melee combat, but I'm most excited about the torches
The first Hytale update has arrived, and it’s got me all excited about torches. That’s a feeling I haven’t had since I was deep in a Terraria hole many years ago, and it feels good to see such a swell of positivity around the Minecraft-style sandbox game’s launch after its dramatic death and rebirth. I still can’t quite believe it’s actually out, just half a year after former owner Riot Games pulled the plug on the project. Yet here we are, and as we come to the end of week one, a new patch brings its first round of changes.…
Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ 3.0 update adds more to the game than any update we’ve seen before, and with all the hype surrounding the brand new Resort Hotel and Zelda/Splatoon items, you might have ignored the equally important Slumber Islands.Luna’s islands have had an upgrade, and you can now save three Slumber Islands of three sizes that you can choose from, complete with whatever decorations, furniture, and terraforming you’d like to perform to create the island of your dreams. If you want to try performing a radical island design overhaul but don’t want to ruin all of your precious hard…
The Hyperkin Competitor might be a better DualSense than Sony's, which really makes you question if the PS5's controller has ever lived up to its potential
Why you can trust GamesRadar+ Our experts review games, movies and tech over countless hours, so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about our reviews policy. Has the DualSense ever lived up to its promises? Going into the PS5 generation, it was maybe the thing I was most excited about. A controller with vivid haptic feedback, trigger resistance, and a refined PlayStation feel – what wasn’t to get excited over? But more than five years on, its signature features feel underused at best, and gimmicks at worst. Stick drift issues have been a standout narrative of…
Don't worry about The Division, Ubisoft say as series executive producer jumps to Battlefield amid layoffs
Julian Gerighty, a long-time key cog at Massive Entertainment, has announced that he’s departing the Ubisoft-owned studio after 12 years to go and work on Battlefield at EA. His departure swiftly follows Ubisoft revealing earlier this week that they’re planning to lay off staff at Massive, with a voluntary redundancy process late last year reportedly having not resulted in enough departures to stave off this bloodletting. Meanwhile, the publishers have opted to take the opportunity of Gerighty’s departure to reassure folks that The Division series is just fine.
Does Hytale have controller support? The differences between Hytale and Minecraft are mostly subtle: improved graphics, simplified crafting, and helpful QoL tweaks collectively make the games feel distinct. However, there is one glaring omission that has players up in arms, and that’s the lack of native Hytale controller support. It’s a fair assumption to say that most of the Hytale player base has played Minecraft, and the majority of Minecraft players have played the sandbox game using a controller. With Hytale only launching on PC for the foreseeable future, there’s a large portion of the audience who want to be…
A week after talking up the in-development Division 3, series creative director Julian Gerighty has left Ubisoft’s Massive studio to join Electronic Arts, it’s been confirmed. In a statement on social media, Ubisoft confirmed that The Division series and Star Wars Outlaws lead has joined Battlefield Studios.“While we’ll miss him, his mark will live on at Massive and we’ll continue to bring the world he’s been part of creating to our players for years to come,” it said.“For our players, don’t worry, Agents. Our teams who built this world with Julian are still here, carrying it forward with an ambitious, unchanged…
After 27 years at Ubisoft, The Division boss Julian Gerighty leaves for Battlefield Studios while devs promise "an ambitious, unchanged commitment" to The Division 3
Legendary Tom Clancy’s The Division lead Julian Gerighty, who’s worked at Ubisoft in some capacity since 1999, will soon leave the military looter shooter for Battlefield Studios under EA.This move comes a little over a week after Ubisoft announced it would “improve efficiency and reduce costs” by closing its recently unionized Halifax studio, impacting 71 positions, and a month after Battlefield lead Vince Zampella’s tragic death. About the major change, Gerighty writes on Twitter, “It’s time for me to hang up my go bag (keeping the watch) as I go on another grand adventure.””The Division future burns bright, and I…
That Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag sea shanty deluge was just down to "technical issues", Ubisoft say
I be a poor journo. Newly come from the official Ubisoft music YouTube channel. I spend my life in jeopardy. Of a publisher suddenly turning around and saying that a sudden mass reupload of Black Flag’s sea shanties was in fact just a case of behind-the-scenes issues, rather than another harbinger of a remake announcement. Tp be fair, it did follow many reports about the badly kept secret that is the Black Flag remake and a PEGI rating that sure looks like it’s for such a game.
