Regardless of whatever impression the rollercoaster of player sentiment might’ve given you over the years, it seems Diablo 4 is quite popular. In fact, it’s the best-selling game in Blizzard’s entire 35-year history, according to a marketing lead at the company.Lauren Ashling Hill, communications lead for Activision Blizzard in Northern Europe, describes Diablo 4 as “the best selling Blizzard game of all time” in her LinkedIn profile (as spotted by Eurogamer). She also notes that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – this is certainly the 2022 title, not the 2009 classic – is “the best selling game in COD…
Hear ye, hear ye! Embark have shared some more concrete details for Arc Raider’s next main update, Headwinds, which is set to be downloaded onto your platform of choice tomorrow, January 7th. Namely, just what that new matchmaking option is, which is, as it seems, one that won’t be for everyone. As previously detailed, this new matchmaking option will only be for those of you that are level 40 and upwards, because it allows you to fly solo into a lobby filled with squads. Aye, that means it’s just you and the whims of individual groups. Apparently this…
Someone's modded the Fortnite storm into Hytale, and now a battle royale server seems inevitable
I wish I could highlight every single impressive Hytale creation and mod I come across, but it’s a truly overwhelming amount – I’d have zero time for anything else. The creativity and ingenuity of those making their own content within the fresh-faced sandbox game is astounding, but it’s of course helped by Hypixel Studios’ open-armed approach to modding. Here’s one, though, that I think could enable a very different kind of Hytale experience. Someone’s already managed to recreate the famous purple storm from Fortnite, and I think a battle royale-flavored server may not be too far away. A lot of…
Take-Two and Rockstar may hold back the release of the physical version of Grand Theft Auto 6 to avoid spoilers. That’s according to Polish site PPE.pl, whose insider Graczdari previously correctly leaked information on the release date of Oblivion: Remastered physical copies, the Switch 2 port of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and the PS5 port of Microsoft Flight Simulator.According to Graczdari – who PPE.pl says handles physical game sales in Europe – Take-Two still has no plans for a physical edition of the game, at least at release. While it appears inevitable that the game will get a physical release, the report claims…
Terraria update trailer shows off building islands in the sky and some of the 8 terrifying new bosses, including a giant skeleton and a gigantic pair of floating eyeballs
There’s a big Terraria update coming tomorrow, another heralded as the final one, bringing a wealth of new additions, including some crossovers with Dead Cells and Palworld. Dubbed ‘Bigger and Boulder’, this one lives up to the name on paper, and looking at the trailer, it’s even more exciting in motion. For Palworld, players are getting a Digtoise they can call on in times of need. We don’t yet know if you can make this thing a pet or not, but it’s cute and handy nonetheless. On the Dead Cells side of things, there’s a ton of equipment, including the Beheaded’s…
Strategy game Bolt Action is a tabletop WW2 miniatures port with indirect fire, armour facings and overwatch
Today I became aware of Bolt Action, a historical strategy sim based on the World War II tabletop miniatures game from Warlord Games (founded by erstwhile Games Workshop staffers John Stallard and Paul Sawyer). It sees you fretting over questions of morale, line-of-sight and cover, while leading US, British or German armies across maps that range from beaches to churchyards. There’s multiplayer, too. Trailer ho!
This new Survivors-like wants to hook you with flashy, Diablo-style loot chasing, but there's one major problem
You’d be forgiven for not having heard of RIP, or Reincarnation Insurance Program, before today. I had no idea what it was until I saw it splutter into life on the Steam charts. But much like Schedule 1 or Peak last year, sometimes games just capture the public consciousness and take the world by surprise. Having released today in early access, there are already over 4,000 players getting stuck into the zombie-slaying Survivors-like, and its Diablo-style loot progression calls me to do the same. There’s just one problem: the generative AI disclosure on its Steam page. I’m always on the…
Ubisoft proposes to cut 18% of workforce at France headquarters as part of ‘major reset’ plan
Following last week’s announcement of a ‘major company reset’, Ubisoft has proposed the elimination of up to 200 jobs at its headquarters in Paris, France, or around 18% of staff.Last week, the Assassin’s Creed publisher announced a significant organizational restructuring, which will see its development teams split into autonomous ‘creative houses’.As part of the restructuring, the publisher will also be rolling out a cost-cutting initiative, it said, and the role of its France HQ will be refocused on governance, strategic prioritisation, and capital allocation. In an email to staff sent on Monday, the company said it had entered negotiations for a…
Director of new zombie horror heaps praise on Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later, as he says it's "unavoidable" not to be influenced by the franchise: "It runs deep in my roots"
Zak Hilditch has heaped praise on Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later, admitting that he found it “unavoidable” not to be influenced by the hit franchise when he made new zombie horror We Bury the Dead.”Not only did it revolutionize the zombie movie, I think it revolutionized cinema,” the writer-director, who’s perhaps best known for helming Netflix’s 2017 Stephen King adaptation 1922, gushes to GamesRadar+. “That idea of elevated genre that then started banding about was leveled right at 28 Days Later. Danny Boyle… I’m such a Trainspotting die-hard… it was just like, ‘Is this even happening? Can you do this?…
I like Hytale. I like how it plays smoother and weightier than Minecraft, while matching the explorative highs of creeping through an infested cave or stumbling upon some ancient, unplundered ruin. I like how it runs on the Steam Deck without trying to. And I like the pace at which it’s being updated: one substantial patch per week, at the current rate. You could argue, fairly, that regular content injections are vital for an early access game that’s accessible as early as Hytale is. Likeable or not, its sense of purpose is currently driven entirely by the primate-brain desire to…
