The latest season of Fortnite OG begins on April 1, bringing Chapter 1 Season 8 to the game. Over the course of the current season, earthquakes have been happening across the map, with cracks appearing on the surface in various places. Now, however, just hours before the map changes, the earthquakes have been knocking down the buildings in Titled Towers. While the cracks are easy to find, having already decimated other parts of the battle royale game’s map, the effects are only now reaching the more populated areas of the Fortnite landscape. When the tremors happen where the buildings are…

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen devs found that "the programming sucks" in the original RPGs, but needed Nintendo's help on the remakes because they "hadn't gotten any better at programming since then"
Pokemon games are often criticized for their poor technical states these days, but the lack of refinement goes back to the series’ heyday. When remaking the OG Game Boy titles for the GBA, the devs at Game Freak had a rough time revisiting their previous work in part because the programming was so bad. That’s according to a 2004 issue of Nintendo Dream magazine, which included an interview with director Junichi Masuda, lead planner Koji Nishino, lead programmer Tetsuya Watanabe, and graphics lead Takao Uno. That interview has recently been translated as part of a new DidYouKnowGaming video, offering some rare…
If you’re looking to fit in a break from social media discourse in the near future, it’s looking like May is going to be a good time for it. That’s because ZA/UM’s followup to Disco Elysium, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies, is launching around then. And what better a game to post about than one which has a studio embroiled in a whole heap of mess. Zero Parades is very specifically launching on May 21st, so you’ve got almost two solid months to prepare yourself for the serial posting that is sure to take place around then. GameSpot…
Subnautica 2's Voices from Beyond videos are giving us a much more detailed look at the story than we first thought
Short, animated videos have been appearing on the Subnautica YouTube channel, mysteriously titled ‘Voices from Beyond’. Set within the Subnautica universe, there are five videos in the series, with the latest now drawing to its disastrous conclusion, and potentially being a springboard for where we jump off. The first episode takes us to a snapshot of a scene of a mongolian dwelling on an alien planet, and it looks like something Lofi Girl would be proud of, complete with a messy bookcase, steaming mug of tea, and the sort of clutter that only true cosiness can justify. The books are…
Crimson Desert has countless quests with a bunch of odd requirements, and The Weight of Knowledge is one of those quests. You can start The Weight of Knowledge in the Scholastone Institute, Southwest of Hernand. There are three parts to this quest: The Missing Forbidden Book, Investigation, and Contradiction. The first two are self-explanatory and can be solved by following the quest marker and talking to the NPCs you find, but at the end, you’ll need to explain your findings to the Institute Steward. In this guide, we’re breaking down all of the answers you need for the Contradiction quiz during The…
The Arc Raiders Outstanding Balance mission has you searching for Dodger’s Stash in the Traffic Tunnels under Blue Gate and, hoo-boy, it is not fun. There are Shredders everywhere underground, and later you’ll have to head overground and deal with what feels like an increased number of Rocketeers and other airborne enemies. It’s tricky call here as to whether to take a free loadout or not because it’s a tough run without good gear, but also a risk to take your best stuff. However, it is a lot easier when you know exactly where you’re going. So let me show where…
The impossible alchemy of Lucid Blocks is a reminder that 99% of videogame crafting is boring
There is a tiny wild sun trapped inside my crystal tower. I hear its garbled voice and catch the yellow of its fire through the blinding white blocks of the summit. The tower itself is so bright on the outside you can barely identify objects placed on it, but I have smashed the crust and dug a network of passages, and it’s shadier within. A realm of shining fog, slick as tooth enamel, with fissured, fugitive reflections that call to mind the beautiful quartz spacecraft in Noctis. The relative gloom inside the tower implies that the structure’s…
Move aside, surfers, a new form of racing might be on the cards in Counter-Strike 2. Angel Cazacu, best known for creating the Dogtown Wingman map, has utilized his programming skills to add physics to the game’s vehicles, making it possible to drive some of the previously stationary cars. In his videos, Cazacu shows off his creation on Inferno, opting for the three-wheeled vehicle stationed at CT spawn to go on a brief tour around the map. I’m adding fully physics driven vehicles to #CS2 It calculates realistic tire friction and suspension forces, then applies them to the vehicle to…
Pokémon Pokopia is getting an official Ikea island this week.In collaboration with Ikea Japan, a new Dream Island will be added to the game from April 1 until May 10. Players will be able to “experience what it’s like to live in a home designed by Ikea’s designers” in the life simulation game.Ikea stores in Japan will also feature new room displays inspired by Pokémon. A Pikachu and a Snorlax room, which has also been recreated in-game, will appear in Ikea stores, though it doesn’t appear that any new licensed Pokémon furniture will be created.Instead, the rooms will include Ikea…
