I know I’m not the only one who thought that Stranger Things season 5 was a bit of a disappointment. After 10 years of build-up, and a fairly promising Vol. 1, the show’s final chapter wrapped things up with a lackluster final battle, an overlong epilogue, and a frustratingly ambiguous farewell to Eleven – and, ultimately, dropped the (Magic 8) ball. While it can’t tell us whether Eleven did really sacrifice herself in ‘The Rightside Up’, given that it takes place between seasons 2 and 3, new animated series Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 goes some way to making up for…

Diablo 4’s second expansion, Lord of Hatred, is on the horizon, but not everything included will be immediately useful.Aside from the new classes and questline, the Diablo 4 version of the Horadric Cube, first introduced in Diablo 2, is one of the big selling points of the Lord of Hatred DLC. If all goes well, it could shake up endgame itemization in a way that people have been asking for for years. For the uninitiated and in the simplest of terms (I go over it in more detail here), the Cube lets you use items you’d otherwise salvage to upgrade…

Developer American McGee had to learn he was destined for goth greatness at some point, so why not during Quake 2’s development? Somewhere around 30 years ago, he found out he was interested in telling stories through video games in a way his co-workers at id Software didn’t care for, and it eventually led him to create my favorite, graveyard smash Alice games. In response to a clip from his 2000 game American McGee’s Alice on Twitter, the former Doom developer remembers the moment he discovered others at id Software weren’t eager to use the studio’s proprietary Quake engine for “proper…

Last month, a report emerged that claimed that Sony would no longer be putting its first-party games like Ghost of Yotei on PC, with online games like Marathon being the exception. The PlayStation maker is yet to confirm or deny this, and the report even noted that Sony’s strategy is “constantly shifting,” meaning this may end up proving untrue. But former Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida says he’s not seen any proof of PlayStation changing their strategy this console generation. World of Warcraft is in a precarious situation right now. Its latest patch, 12.0.5, brought with it a slew of major bugs, including one so bad Blizzard has had to temporarily switch off housing in The Americas and Oceania. As the developer-publisher continues to put out the various fires in the MMO, it has somehow deemed that the time is ripe for a pricing adjustment in the UK, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Turkey. The optics are, naturally, atrocious. The good news, at least, is that the changes won’t be coming into effect until June. As shared by Blizzard, from Monday, June…
