As the dedicated News Editor I am, I tuned into all of Summer Game Fest’s major showcases this year. Wolverine stunned me at State of Play; Stranger Than Heaven’s post-war Japan infected me with its smooth jazz and contemporary style. Guild Wars 3 exists; nuff said. Yet, a part of me was holding out for the Xbox Games Showcase – partly because Microsoft now owns Activision Blizzard, the developer behind most of my favorite videogames, but also because I suspected we’d see a little bit more of Fable. In many ways, it delivered – Spyro, Halo, and most importantly, Natasia…

Amid a major “reset” for Xbox under new CEO Asha Sharma, Game Pass prices have dropped dramatically in recent months, following what was apparently a blistering blow back from October’s 50% subscription price hike. The idea of a loot train has never seemed so real. Forget the grand open worlds that can quickly divide a squad of friends, Enginefall brings a lick of natural linearity back to the survival crafting genre. Set in the confines of colossal megatrains after a catastrophic worldwide event, Red Rover Interactive’s survival shooter forces you not into a race across the world, but a mad dash to the front of grand locomotives and rocking rust buckets as civilization teeters on collapse. Craft your way onto the tail-end of a train, then blast a path to First Class and the…

Exodus from developer Archetype Entertainment, under Wizards of the Coast, is playing with familiar ingredients in hopes to create something entirely new. It’s not as if there’s never been a spacefaring sci-fi shooter RPG before, and Exodus has certainly earned the Mass Effect comparisons thanks to the similar medium and genre on top of its developer backgrounds. But it is very much its own thing, and exists beyond those comparisons. While Exodus isn’t releasing until at least 2027, the developers recently invited us to come and see for ourselves – which made the perfect opportunity to ask: What is Exodus, exactly?…

Last week, Amazon gaming general manager Jeff Gattis rather put the cat amongst the pigeons when talking about James Bond’s future in games now IO Interactive’s 007 First Light is out. He was cited by Polygon as having said that, since they’ll be happening post-Amazon’s acquisition of the full Bond rights, any follow-up would be “done by MGM and, theoretically, by Amazon Game Studios”. When asked about Gattis’ comments, Amazon were quick to declare that it’s “still too early to discuss future projects”. Now, Gattis himself has claimed that he never confirmed Amazon Game Studios would be publishing the next…

Keep up with redeeming these new Spin a Femboy codes, and you’ll generate fat stacks of cash faster than ever before. They’re already money-printing machines in their own right, but who are you to pass up an extra revenue stream in this economy? Spin a Femboy, well… spins the idea of an idle collection tycoon game on its pink-haired head. Rather than amassing a collection of burly (and sometimes stretchy) anime characters to display like action figures seemingly capable of siphoning cash from the earth, this one has you assemble a harem of cute and cuddly guys instead. The end…

A mass of flailing fingers flop against my desk. I’m doing badly at playing cartoony roguelike shooter Maximum Thunderness with a controller. The fact I’m trying to play its demo on mouse and keyboard at the same time, in order to appreciate the co-op element of the game’s battles with skateboarding aliens, probably isn’t helping. In fact, it almost certainly isn’t.

If you like the sort of game that actively plays itself, toss in these Portal Keeper codes, and you’ll be swimming in free rewards, including the good stuff you’ll need to enchant your favorite weapons. Leave them to expire, and you’ll have to put in some serious time to earn what was once only a few clicks away. Remember: this is an idle management game, not an action RPG. Though it looks a little like Diablo, Torchlight, or even Minecraft Dungeons, the game description will write home that it’s not quite what its main illustration would suggest. Confusing, right? Here…
