Eli Roth says his upcoming horror movie set around a killer ice cream man is "totally insane": "I want to outdo Hostel and Green Inferno"
Director Eli Roth made his name in horror with some of the goriest, most shocking mainstream films of the ’00s. But all that may be child’s play in comparison to his new thriller Ice Cream Man, which Roth says he intends to outdo even his most bloodthirsty films.”I want this to be the craziest film I’ve ever made,” Roth tells Geek Vibes Nation. “I mean, I want to outdo Hostel and Green Inferno and Cabin Fever in terms of bat shit crazy. And we just shot it. I’m in post on it now. No release date yet, but thinking maybe…
Despite global economic turmoil, the Switch 2 price has remained the same since its launch last June, but one of the company’s former sales leads predicts it’ll increase eventually. The former Nintendo employee, who identifies himself only by his first name, Sean, tells the Kit & Krysta podcast – itself hosted by ex-Nintendo marketing leads – that a Switch 2 price hike is “inevitable.”There are a multitude of fierce economic headwinds making gaming hardware more expensive to make and thus sell, resulting in numerous and substantial price increases across Xbox and PlayStation’s console lineups. The most recent is a global increase…
Crimson Desert players are speed-gliding using this "game changer" of a trick that may or may not be a bug: "Dear devs, please do not patch this"
Crimson Desert players are waiting anxiously to find out how Pearl Abyss will approach fun bugs. That is, glitches that happen to be fun. Blizzard has become infamous for patching out all sorts of Diablo 4 exploits to the chagrin of people using those exploits to deal bonkers numbers, but Pearl Abyss hasn’t really been tested with this sort of thing. Well, until now anyway.I found this Crimson Desert gliding hack on the game’s subreddit, where most commenters have decided it’s a bugged mechanic. As you’ll see in the below video, it’s being used to drastically increase the speed and…
"Any update is a bonus not a right": Peak co-developer Landfall reminds impatient fans it's not a live-service studio
Peak might have suddenly become one of the biggest games on Steam last year, but co-developers Aggro Crab and Landfall are still small, indie studios that can’t crank out infinite updates at the pace of a live-service studio. The friendslop favorite is getting its final biome in 2026, even as some fans continue to demand more – and Landfall is keen to remind them that the studio has no moral obligation to keep updating the game.In a Twitter response to one player lamenting what they call a “lazy dev cycle” for Peak, Landfall says that the game has “had sooo…

Nintendo's physical price split is "a pro-consumer move," says ex-sales lead, and the company is just passing profits on cheaper digital games back to you while it swims in "Scrooge McDuck money"
Last week, Nintendo announced a new pricing strategy for Switch 2 games that will see first-party Switch 2 games launch with a $10 price split separating digital and physical versions. Nintendo is keen to frame this change as a price decrease for digital games rather than a price increase for physical ones, and a former sales lead from the company believes that’s probably true. In fact, Nintendo may just be passing its own savings on digital sales back to you. That former Nintendo sales lead appeared in the latest episode of Kit & Krysta podcast under just his first name, Sean.…
Illumination CEO says the "secret" to the massive success of the Super Mario movies is working directly with Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo
Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri says the massive success of the Super Mario movies is all thanks to Nintendo and series creator Shigeru Miyamoto.”The secret is being able to bring Miyamoto and the team into the center of the process,” Meledandri said in a red carpet interview, when asked what is the “secret” to the films being enormously successful. “It’s not something that we had ever done at Illumination. You know, we had made 10 movies at Illumination. We had made all of them completely inside the studio. So, this was the first time that we were going to work in…

Nintendo's legal fight with Palworld suffers a reversal as the USPTO reject their patent on character-summoning battle mechanics
Nintendo’s efforts to patent the idea of summoning a videogame character and letting it fight another character have suffered a significant reversal in the USA, even as the Mario makers continue a copyright infringement lawsuit against Palworld developers Pocketpair in Japan. The United States Patent and Trademark Office has now revoked the character-summoning patent in question, though their decision is “non-final”. Nintendo have two months to respond and argue their case. Nintendo have been fighting a legal battle against Pocketpair and Palworld since September 2024, when they filed suit for infringement of patent rights in the Tokyo District Court. If…
