Bungie ask Marathon critics to delay "full reviews" till the release of an endgame zone, and I am wistfully reminded of Vault of Glass
Bungie’s Marathon reboot released yesterday, but you might not get that impression from the developer’s coverage embargo guidelines, which request that critics delay their “full review and impressions” until the launch of a “pinnacle endgame zone and experience” later in March. It’s a “request/suggestion”, not a demand, but it rubs me up the wrong way regardless. The Marathon reboot is not an early access launch that is marketed to buyers as unfinished.
Months after a last-minute delay, long-awaited conversion mod 'Skyblivion' is back with a new video… that doesn't move
The last time we covered Skyblivion, an arguably over-ambitious merging of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it was closing in on a scheduled 2025 release date. That didn’t happen. On December 3, an eight-minute-long video dropped to explain why it wasn’t going to land in our holiday hampers. Now, three months later, and with only a vague 2026 release dream, the Rebelzize team has finally put out a new video. And no, it’s not a release. Potentially set to reward you after a rough week or sour your mood with the whiplash of rapid…

The weekend is here, which means you’ll be needing some new streaming recommendations for a marathon binge session. And Prime Video is the place to be, with three must-see new shows and seasons available to watch.Brand new show Young Sherlock is, confusingly, not a prequel to the Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law movies, despite the involvement of director Guy Ritchie. But it is a rollicking good time. There are more criminal thrills in Cross season 2. And the final season of Outlander kicks off this weekend – the beginning of the end for Claire and Jamie Fraser’s epic, decades-spanning…
The school bus is unleashed in Wreckfest 2's latest update, which also introduces car upgrades and waypoint races
Put down your pencil case and get ready to answer when your name’s called. Or prepare to pancake a bunch of rolling wrecks. Either way, early access banger Wreckfest 2’s latest major update’s delivered a school bus. It’s far from the lone addition either, with the sequel’s first crack and car upgrading and waypoint races arriving alongside the usual extra cars and tracks.
Days after being vindicated for reusing an Atlas boss in Ark Survival Ascended, its biggest modder is teasing another
Clearly not one to be discouraged by community pushback, renowned Ark Survival Ascended modder ‘Nekatus’ is teasing “one more new creature” for their team’s officially sanctioned Astraeos map pack. What it might be, though, is anyone’s guess. Just last week, Nekatus spoke about landing in hot water with some of Ark’s louder players. The modder had reused assets from the abandoned game Atlas in a huge update to Ark Survival Ascended’s Astraeos DLC, reviving one of the dead title’s bosses as a fearsome target in one of the biggest survival games out there. Nekatus attempted to justify the decision through…

The Marathon Tox Clear event is an optional challenge that allows you to get some nice loot either by braving a room of toxic gas or by finding a way to deactivate it. The problem is that the gas in Marathon is so dangerous that it’s not worth trying to loot the room’s contents and the necessary key is quite rare anyway. Even so, I’ve laid out everything you need to know about Tox Clear rooms in Marathon and how to temporarily disable to gas.Marathon Tox Clear walkthrough (Image credit: Bungie)If you want to deactivate the gas in a Marathon…
After trying Subtractive Runemixer, I can't unsee the links between RPG element systems and colour theory
Subtractive Runemixer is a work-in-progress RPG by Starbage, recently released for free on Itch.io. I know about it because artist and writer Oma Keeling shared it on Bluesky. It’s a first-person RPGMaker production in you are a gloomy automaton called Caster, who is searching a labyrinth of religious icons and technology for another automaton who wants to kill you. Along the way, you will delve into dungeons that look like server farms crossed with the original Sonic the Hedgehog Special Stage. Corridors of blocky lights with floors of slanted crystal. Here you will battle pieces of sorrowful e-waste, such as…
Path of Exile director Mark Roberts isn't afraid to change "very ancient and often low-quality content"
Path of Exile 3.28, the ARPG’s new ‘Mirage’ update, brings its previous league, Keepers of the Flame, to the core game. While it’s relatively common for developer Grinding Gear Games to adapt old seasonal mechanics into a more permanent, if less dramatic, incarnation that sticks around for good, this one feels a little different. Keepers was the RPG’s first-ever ‘sequel league,’ introducing a new and evolved form of Breach. With its integration into the main game, that means the old-school incarnation of Breach is essentially gone. Ahead of the new Path of Exile update, I asked game director Mark Roberts…
