We now have a launch date for Minecraft Dungeons 2, and I couldn’t be happier to hear it. The first rather snuck up on me, with a relatively slow start that took a while to ramp up to the pace of the action RPGs it was inspired by. However, once you get through the initial campaign and start unlocking more fancy gear pieces and buildcrafting options, it begins to blossom into a game that has all the trappings of Diablo, but with that signature blocky style. I’ve therefore been clutching at any Minecraft Dungeons 2 news I can get my…

If you think about it, the Metro series is really just about inopportune timing. Nobody in any of the games asked to be around after a nuclear apocalypse, stuck fighting monsters with shoddy weapons, and dealing with greedy traitors. That’s why it’s no surprise that the newest game, Metro 2039, will continue the theme by releasing in the most crowded month next year.Right alongside Fable, State of Decay 3, Persona 4 Revival, and probably Wo Long 2, Metro 2039 will arrive in February 2027.The trailer developer 4A Games put together is unmistakably Metro-coded: Gas masks, fog, barbed wire, night vision…

There are few games as synonymous with my childhood as Spyro. That little purple guy is one of my all-time favorite videogame characters, alongside his bipedal, Wumpa fruit-eating brother-in-chaos, Crash Bandicoot. While The Reignited Trilogy was a nostalgia-tinted blast from the past, I’ve been eagerly awaiting a new entry in the series, akin to Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. Imagine my face, then, when I attended an ominous, Activision-hosted preview roundtable ahead of Summer Game Fest, and Spyro: A Realm Beyond appeared on my screen. I’d be a liar if I said I didn’t shed a little tear, then…

Your eyes weren’t deceiving you: that was indeed She-Ra, Princess of Power, who appears during one Masters of the Universe post-credits scene. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced feels almost like a moment for Ubisoft’s beloved pirate game to break out from the rest of the series. The first to move away from initial meta-protagonist Desmond Miles, it always felt like a dramatic departure, and while the assassin elements were certainly still present, it was much more about swashbuckling and sailing the high seas. For the long-awaited Black Flag remake, actor Matt Ryan is lacing his boots up again as protagonist Edward Kenway, and he says there’s more of the enigmatic lead to dig into this time around. “Getting back into the studio,…
