"We have no desire to be a media empire," says Palworld publishing head, but Pocketpair would be stupid to let the survival game die out
Pocketpair isn’t trying to turn Palworld into a “media empire,” according to the company’s head of publishing and communications John ‘Bucky’ Buckley. All of its fledgling spinoffs are simply a product of fan demand. In an interview with GamesRadar+ at GDC 2026, Buckley called out the common misconception that Pocketpair are “trying to turn Palworld into this big, big, big, big, big, big thing.” Bigger than it already is, he means. To Buckley, “it’s more so that we’re just kind of doing what our players are asking us to do.”Upcoming farming sim spinoff Palworld: Palfarm was born because there was apparently…
Hoarder is just a beautiful Polish cleaning sim from a former Darkwood dev, until you find the staircase to the very different game beneath
The co-creator of extremely good horror game Darkwood is making a cleaning simulator, comparable to PowerWash Simulator and Viscera Cleanup Detail. Or at least, something that starts out as a cleaning simulator, and may even end as a cleaning simulator, if you choose, but which harbours sunken secrets that unlock an entirely different species of game. A bit like Inscryption, yes. They’re calling it Hoarder. The development team are Byzel (Polish for mess or clutter, apparently), who are part of boardgame company Awaken Realms. They’re led by Acid Wizard co-founder Gustaw Stachaszewski, and include a few of the people behind…
Crimson Desert was always going to be a game that split the room, and its first two days since launch have only further emphasized just how true that is. Among the conversation points: an unconventional control scheme with minimal ability to rebind your layout, a tremendously vast open world that doesn’t always have the depth to match, and boss battles that can feel like major difficulty spikes. The latest discussion point? Questions around whether some of its in-game paintings might be AI-generated. The hottest-button issue in gaming was bound to rear its head eventually, and here it is. The Crimson…
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet's been away from the spotlight, but Neil Druckmann's teasing the return of a The Last of Us actor in the sci-fi game
We haven’t seen much from Naughty Dog’s new space romp Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet outside of its reveal trailer from well over a year ago, but game director Neil Druckmann has just teased that a prominent The Last of Us actor is set to return. On his personal Instagram account, Druckmann yesterday uploaded a picture of actor Merle Dandridge wearing a motion capture suit while posing in what looks like a mocap studio. The caption is a little less vague, calling Dandridge a “n̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶a̶l̶ intergalactic treasure.” Calling it a tease might be cutting it short.Merle Dandridge has a pretty long, extensive…
Vampires! They don’t just survive now, but crawl too, as evidenced by poncle’s follow-up to their tight and already quite influential bullet heaven Vampire Survivors, Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors. Which now, as shared in an on brand, irreverently silly trailer, has a release date! A date that’s incredibly soon too: April 21st, next month, almost exactly a month away. The trailer didn’t reveal anything new apart from said release date, but it did make one thing incredibly clear, which is that you will be paying 9.99 no matter the currency (well, at least for…
How do you beat the Reed Devil? You would be forgiven for settling into a rather relaxed routine when playing Crimson Desert; fishing, doing little archery contests, and taking in the sights are all in a day’s work for Kliff. Eventually, though, death comes for you and yours, and you have to step up and fight the Reed Devil. You first get the hint of something supernatural when you enter Glenbright Manor, on the search for your comrades. Things are a lot quieter there for reasons you’ll see immediately, and a chase breaks out as you attempt to apprehend the…
Todd Howard says "leaks don't help" Bethesda or players, especially when it comes to Oblivion: "Everyone is gonna have a different version"
Bethesda Game Studios’ boss man Todd Howard is unsurprisingly not a big fan of leaks because, according to the The Elder Scrolls and Fallout lead, leakage leads to players getting “a little anxious” over what they’re getting into. The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered was definitely not the first Bethesda RPG to leak ahead of its reveal, but it is one that fans were somewhat aware of for literal years thanks to Microsoft’s leaked legal documents. So, when we sat down with Todd Howard to talk about The Elder Scrolls 6 and Creation Engine 3, we also picked his brain about…
Dark Scrolls is a dungeon scroller from the Gunbrella devs, starring fantasy staples like an obligatory thief and "Rat with saxophone"
Right, roll call time. “A barbarian (for all the bonk boys in the audience)”. Present. A mage who’s the smartypants choice. Yeah. A thief, who’s both “classic” and “obligatory”. Here. “Rat with saxophone”. Yup. Right, that’s all of the fantasy trope character types accounted for in Dark Scrolls, a roguelike dungeon-running platformer from the devs behind Gunbrella and Gato Roboto.
If you’ve been sent a concerning squad invite message in Warframe telling you that your account has been compromised, don’t panic. Malicious players were able to adjust the default text for invites to display a custom greeting instead, and took it upon themselves to exploit this to frighten the Warframe community at large. In response, Digital Extremes has shut down direct game invites for the time being. It says they’ll remain off until the launch of the Shadowgrapher expansion, but notes that “no accounts have been compromised” and that “it is safe to continue playing.” Unsolicited messages that suggest one…
