Seven years after he first teased it, Andy Muschietti has confirmed that he’s “going to do” a six-hour supercut of It and It: Chapter Two – but we won’t be getting it until after It: Welcome to Derry season 2.
When asked for an update on the combined version, which will reportedly feature newly filmed sequences as well as deleted scenes, by SlashFilm recently, the horror director explained: “We didn’t have time to do it because we were involved in all kinds of projects. The show had a priority over the supercut.

Despite the success of It: Welcome to Derry’s first season, which pulled in nearly 20 million viewers worldwide, HBO has yet to officially renew the popular prequel. Muschietti and his producing partner Barbara Muschietti insist it’s in development, however.
“We’re working [on it], the studio’s working [on it]. We want to make it real, and we need the material,” the latter told Collider. “A lot of times, the announcements are really just the studio showing confidence. We don’t need that because, honestly, we’re good. So when we greenlight something, it’s real. We’re not just tossing out an update to get people to watch. It’s good.”
With that, we’d better exercise some patience when it comes to Pennywise’s return, on both the big and small screens. Fortunately, It, It: Chapter Two, and It: Welcome to Derry season 1 are all streaming now on HBO Max, which just launched in the UK and Ireland.
