Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red still has more unannounced projects in the clip even after the reveal of the new Witcher 3 expansion, Songs of the Past, the studio has confirmed.
ICYMI, there’s a new Witcher 3 expansion coming out! It’s called Songs of the Past! It’s set to launch in 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC! Obviously, that’s all in addition to the upcoming CDPR games we already know about like The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk Orion, The Witcher remake, and the mysterious project Hadar. As if that all wasn’t exciting enough already, the studio has teased even more to come that hasn’t been announced, and some of it could be coming as early as this year. Whether these “projects” are full-on games or expansions is unclear, but CDPR confirmed their existence in its latest earnings statement.
“Some of the other unannounced projects previously disclosed by the Parent Company in its past periodic reports are also at an advanced stages of development, which may potentially lead up to their release in the coming quarters of the current year and the following year,” reads one particularly enticing snippet from the release.
In an earnings call and Q&A accompanying the release of the financial statement, various CDPR executives referenced these unannounced projects several times and confirmed that two of them are gaming-related and one is a “non-gaming project,” which could refer to a TV, movie, or comic spinoff of a CDPR IP.
We don’t know a whole lot about The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past just yet, but CDPR has been very keen to call it an expansion and not just some DLC. The difference, according to community manager Marcin Łukaszewski, is that expansions like Songs of the Past are “major pieces of content providing lots of hours of gameplay, including new story, characters, etc.” In other words, it sounds like CDPR sickos will have plenty to keep them busy while they wait for the studio’s announced and unannounced projects, whatever those may be.
