MindsEye will receive a new mission which will provide evidence of the alleged sabotage aimed at the game’s launch, the CEO of developer Build a Rocket Boy says.

Last month studio CEO Mark Gerhard stated on the company’s official LinkedIn page that more staff were being made redundant, stating that while management took responsibility for the outcomes of the project, the game’s launch was also “affected by factors beyond normal operational challenges and a competitive environment”.

Gerhard went on to claim that t one of the main reasons behind MindsEye’s commercial failure was “overwhelming evidence of organised espionage and corporate sabotage”, and that it was working with external partners and legal advisors to work towards prosecution.

Now, in an interview with GamesBeat, Gerhard says an upcoming MindsEye update will add a new mission which provides evidence of these alleged acts.

Telling the publication that the game would be getting a new mission called Blacklist, which introduces a female playable character, Gerhard added: “We’re also using that to share some of the evidence of the sabotage with the community.” No further explanation was given.

Elsewhere in the interview Gerhard claimed there had been an orchestrated campaign against the company and that authorities were now looking into it.

“We’ve got very strong evidence of this and conducted quite thorough investigations over the months since launch,” he said. “We’ve identified parties involved, and it’s now with the authorities both UK and US to deal with. I can confirm that they’re assisting us with this investigation, but it’s also in their hands now.

“We’ll leave them to do what they do, make their arrests or any announcements in due course. I think we’re not saying anything further at this stage on that. We’ll just let the natural course of justice take its take its path.”

The release of MindsEye last June was followed by social media being flooded with videos of the game’s technical issues and bugs. The situation deteriorated to the extent that PlayStation started refunding multiple players, a rare occurrence that previously took place during the troubled launch of Cyberpunk 2077, before it was pulled from sale entirely.

The game’s Metacritic score currently stands at 39 for the PC version and just 28 for the PS5 version, making it the lowest rated game on Metacritic in 2025.
