Ubisoft has released a ton of stats about Assassin’s Creed Shadows to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the game’s release, and people really like petting those cats huh?
Per the post on the Assassin’s Creed Twitter account, players have played 334,384,499 hours of the game since it launched a year ago, which is roughly 13,932,687 days, or the amount of time that one guy on your friend list on Steam has in Dota 2. Meanwhile, Yasuke and Naoe have killed a total of 4,007,363,535 ‘targets’, which refer to specific enemies in the game, so presumably the amount of kills overall is way higher, unless Ubisoft decided to use the wrong naming convention.
Meanwhile, the most common cause of death is “in conflict from melee attack,” which shouldn’t really be surprising given that it’s a game about swordfighting. Players have also honored 159,623,873 shrines, performed 58,233,600 leaps of faith, and, crucially, pet 26,001,748 cats.
Ubisoft previously said that the latest entry in the series is “overperforming” after previously touting the “second-highest day one sales revenue in Assassin’s Creed franchise history,” but it hasn’t released official sales numbers for the game.
Ubisoft announced earlier this month that Assassin’s Creed Shadows development will be winding down “with smaller, less frequent updates,” with the series presumably looking forward to its PvP multiplayer game known as Codename Invictus, Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake, and the next mainline entry in the series, Assassin’s Creed Hexe.
Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and Origins director says it’s “wonderful to be back after all these years” as he returns to “lead the creative direction of the franchise.”
