How to fast travel in Crimson Desert

Does Crimson Desert have fast travel? Crimson Desert is beautiful, there’s no denying it. Wandering the landscape, at least when you aren’t being accosted by bandits, is serene and pretty magical. There is, however, a time when sightseeing isn’t on the cards, and you have to just get to your destination as quickly as possible.

Thankfully, you can fast travel in Crimson Desert, although it’s a bit more involved than in some other RPGs – it isn’t just a case of clicking wherever you want to go and, voila! As with everything in Crimson Desert, like solving that Dragon’s Stone puzzle, it requires a bit of legwork and potentially putting yourself in a precarious situation or two.

Crimson Desert fast travel explained

To fast travel in Crimson Desert, you need to have a destination unlocked to interact with on the map. Highlight the fast travel point on your map and press Y (or Triangle) to teleport there immediately. There are three ways to unlock these fast travel points:

Skybridge

The first two Skybridge points are unlocked early in the story, which informs how the rest can be activated. To unlock additional Skybridge points, you must run through the platforming section that connects the floating islands.

Each island poses some kind of puzzle, with the occasional one later throwing a boss fight your way. You unlock the fast travel point as you step onto the island, but have to solve whatever it is in front of you to proceed to the next. The advantage of these airborne fast travel points is that you’re able to skydive to any adjacent landmark you wish.

Abyss Nexus

These are your run-of-the-mill fast travel points. They can be found while out and about, occasionally marked with one of those big grey question marks on the map. Stand on the point to activate it. It’s the same as the Skybridge fast travel points, only you aren’t a mile up in the air.

Abyss Cresset

By solving an environmental puzzle, you earn a valuable skill point and can use the housing of the Abyss Artifact as a fast travel point. Some of these puzzles are hidden away in caves and such, so the fast travel points aren’t always the most useful, but it’s good to have options.

One of the best rewards you can hope for when exploring is these fast travel points – the main story takes you all over, and having quick access to areas gives you great flexibility and saves you from trudging through environments you’ve seen time and time again. You’ll thank us when you have to approach the Reed Devil boss for the umpteenth time.
